The insurance company is offering the car for $115 so I figured I'd go for it. Updates to come.

Last night I bought some stuff and started working on my motor...
![]() My nasty head ![]() ![]() Tools of destruction ![]() ![]() I only got four springs out last night because I wasn't using the tool. The tool's too big... I'm hoping to get some more done tonight but I go to bed early since I wake up at 5am each day for work...

The easiest way I found to take out valve springs is to put a big socket on the retainer and then hit it with a hammer. The keepers will pop out and sit in the socket.
Good Luck rebuilding the car |

That valve spring compressor you bought is going to give you clearance problems, unless the LS head has more room around the retainer than the GSR head. I also used to live in the 717.

I didn't get very far on the motor tonight maybe 2 or 3 other springs. I'm going to try again with a big socket tomorrow, I think my valves were opening last time I tried so I'll but a bunched up towel under the head...

I Think i have the same intercoller as you. I was debating weither or not to use it since the Blow off valve is on the hot side of the intercoller. How did it work for you? You have any probelms with it instead of it being on the piping by the TB?

not to thread jack here, but.... wouldn't you be able to just turn the intercooler the other way? i mean, idk. just for curiosity purposes i guess. is there a reason it has to be turned that way?

I'm about to search, but off hand does anyone know if there are any stock pistons that can get higher compression in an ls motor? I know the gsr pistons and type r pistons are higher but are they the same bore? Like I said I'm going to search, but having gone completely aftermarket for a boosted motor I never looked this type of stuff up...
