Default My ITB's + Turbo setup

Hi all,

I would like to share my recent setup we made with my D14Z1 engine. We thought it would be cool to add a turbo to my ITB's setup. Complete new for us, we've seen some other projects on a Honda engine but never in real life. So the experiment just began and we;ve finished it previous week just before the biggest import event here in Holland on the TT Assen track.

Here are the engine specs:
Engine type: D14Z1
Displacement: 1396cc
Compression ratio: ~9.5:1
Bore & stroke: 75mm x 79mm
Max horsepower: ~200hp @ 7000rpm - 3.9psi
Max torque: ~200Nm @ 6000rpm - 3.8psi
Weight: ~920kg without driver
Intake: individual throttle bodies from a Suzuki GSX-R1000 custom made airbox with 3" collector
Cylinder head: milled, 3-angle valve job, phosphorus bronze valve guides
Valves: OMI-Performance high compression valves
Valvesprings: OMI-Performance SPEC1 valvesprings
Retainers: OMI-Performance titanium retainers
Camshaft(s): stock
Camgear(s): stock
Pistons: stock
Connecting rods: stock
Crankshaft: stock
Turbo: SSAC turbo kit: T04E Turbo T3/T4
.57 compressor wheel trim
.50 A/R compressor
.63 A/R turbine
intercooler 680mm*480mm*180mm
2,5" stainless steel piping
38mm wastegate with 4psi spring
Header: SSAC twisted ramhorn
Exhaust: 3" downpipe
custom 2,25" stainless steel with a Mugen Twinloop, no cat and mufflers
Transmission: original Honda D13 S20 gearbox
Clutch: original Honda D16Z6
Flywheel: TCC light flywheel
ECU management: eCtune

---

I've tested the setup on the dyno but this was these were the first runs after some ECU tuning. After the first run on 3.8psi the airbox started to leak, so the pressure was gone after some runs (only 1.5psi, we made 150Chp out of it).
We only saved the first dynorun with the engine tuned max 6000rpm and the ignition very safe on 20 degress. The power the setup already made was 166Chp @ 6000rpm and 192Nm @ 6000rpm. The torque curve is amazing!!

orange line = torque
red line = Chp

The setup is running now on 3.1psi and the rev limiter is set to 7000rpm and we think the setup is around 190Chp and 200+Nm.

Got 2 videos here to see how it goes:

This is serious on almost 3.5psi!!! It goes like a rocket without a lot of boost

I've also driven on the track with the setup and I was afraid I couldn't use all that power in the corner just where I wanted it. But to my surprise the reaction on the peddle and the engine is just like I was used to before without the turbo. And that gives me a very very very big smile! I found out my perfect setup on this way to build in the future :nice:

Pictures for you all:

Very much to do in the future to make this setup even more better. Please feel free to ask questions and make critical comments!

never seen this before, beautiful setup! makes a d-series owner proud . I'd love to throw some ITB's in before my car is done.

Nice to see someone go through the effort of doing this. I look forward to the D16 but more so when you get the box to handle the pressure. I bet that thing is gonna be a bat out of hell when it can hold.

great design. If you dont mind could you please post some more detailed pictures of the ITBs and also the vacuum lines and vacuum manifold. Im working on my own ITB setup at the moment and would like to see your obviously successful example of how to set everything up properly. My main concern is with getting a good supply of vacuum. Thanks in advance.

First time I've seen ITB's with turbo. Usually one or the other. Have you tried it with a normal intake, so that you can see the difference with the ITB's?
