Car will not start 1992 honda civic dx any advice?
Hey guys
new to the forum
I am having trouble with my 1992 honda civic dx
About 2 days ago I started it up and it ran for about 20 seconds and then died.
So I tried to start it again and it didn’t start, the engine will turn over but it won’t start.
So I decided to start looking into what it could be, I decided to see if there was spark, so I put a screw driver into the spark plug, and it has no spark at all.
I checked my battery it was fine, performed a k-test on my ecu and it was fine. Checked all my fuses under the dash and hood, replaced my distributor cap and rotor, and the distributor, checked map sensor, and tried to read my codes off my ecu to see if it will send any error codes, tested the main relay and it tested fine. It still won’t start I am stumped on what it could be.
My question is even though the main relay tested out ok, could it still be that, only reason I am asking is when you turn the key and the engine is trying to turn over the main relay is clicking nonstop and is also making chattering noise, is this normal? I read it is only suppose to click twice and that’s it.
Any thoughts on what my problem might be?

In a quiet place, when you turn the key to ON(II), do you hear the low humming noise of the fuel pump priming for 2 seconds in the rear gas tank area and does the CEL light remain on or turn off after 2 seconds?
Have you checked whether the timing belt snapped? This is done by removing the oil fill cap and looking inside for movement of the rocker arms while a buddy cranks the engine.
Here is another method for checking spark.

the fuel pump does prime when the key is turned, and the timing belt has not snapped we checked that as well?
and the cel turns off after 2 seconds

Coil is shot.
BUY A REBUILT dizzy, don't try and save money by just buying a coil. Trust me been there done that the hard way.
If your sure the ignition switch is good, do the dizzy.

I would recommend replacing the distributor coil. They normally go bad and cause no spark. Also the clicking noise. Does it start clicking while you are turning the key slowly in midway right before it starts cranking the engine? If so that's a normal sound from the main relay.

If you have battery voltage on the Blk/Yel wire inside the distributor with the key in ON(II), then the coil and/or igniter unit is likely bad. You could replace both or the entire dizzy as mentioned.

is that nostop clicking noise that I am hearing from my main relay normal it clicks when the engine is trying to turn over.

Sorry, I missed your mention of replacing the distributor already.
Do you have a multimeter? Check for battery voltage on the Blk/Yel wire and for lack of continuity or a short on the Yel/Grn wire that runs between the igniter unit and ECU.
