Well guys, I'm getting as impatient as ever! As of Monday, a few of the parts had been re-primed and were getting wetsanded again. Looks like it will be longer than the estimated two weeks unfortunately. Hopefully by next weekend I can start putting this thing back together and taking care of some finishing touches. I did however dye the pieces of trim I have that aren't attached to the car as well as the fender liners...they turned out awesome, a really big improvement over the faded black.

hahaha, true story dude... it never ennnnds!
The silver lining in all of this is that I am able to work more since I'm not putting the car back together, so at least I don't come out of this being completely broke.

Update for you guys! Car is taped and sealer will be sprayed tomorrow...if that looks good then right to base and clear. If it needs any quick sanding, then it will get sprayed Friday. Woo! Here's a picture I got from my cousin:

Hey I have a ?... How much do you think this build cost (as far as materials) with the compressor guns paint and clear etc. Just wondering how much i should look into saving up. You've inspired me for a DIY lol.

Compressor (Harbor Freight w/ 20% of coupon + Sale + 2 yr replacement plan)= $170 Fittings, moisture seperator, 25ft hose, etc for compressor= $45ish Paint guns (2 - Astro Evo guns, one with a 1.4mm tip, one with a 1.8 = $200 Paint Materials (PPG Shopline: Primer, Sealer, Base, Clear, Wax & Grease Remover, Multi prep for plastic prep): $500-$600 Tape, Plastic for masking: $100ish Sandpaper (I really stopped counting here, but it was a LOT): $75-$100 Weld-Bond + Application gun (For molding holes): $75 Sanding blocks, and other tools: $50ish Respirators (2), along with prefilters and cartridges: $120ish Keep in mind I had some of these things before hand though, so that helped. That's pretty ballpark, and I'm probably forgetting some things, but that should at least get you started. This also doesn't include the Carbon fiber hood, but you get the idea haha. Also, the compressor would really have been difficult to use for spraying larger surfaces, so I would definitely recommend something bigger And it would have been around 300 hours of work if I didn't have the tech school spray it. Honestly, I would really think twice before DIY'ing this one unless you're willing to not have your car for a very long time (I'm looking at at least 4 months, when I planned for 2-3 wks), and also have the cash to have a pro do it if you end up raising the white flag. Having access to a car that you can drive to go get more materials is crucial, as well as having people to help you when it comes to taking things off like doors/ hatch/ hood and to just keep you motivated. If you decide to go with it, do a LOT of research and don't rush into it! Get a book and find familiarize yourself with the sticky on top of the paint and body forum on how to do body and paint work. While I wouldn't do it again, I'm glad that I did it once because I learned a lot!

lol nah Its cool bro. Its what I wanna do though because when i show my car at shows and stuff i can really appreciate the compliments and knowing that i made everything to my perfect standards is fine with me. Lol I live in Houston (Home of Harbor Freight), so im sure i can get some deals from some of my buddies that work there. I want to do my EG like a Canteen green or whatever color the new jeeps have. Ill take your advice and read over the threads as i have done urz already. I have a little crx si for a beater right now so i can do without the hatch for a minute. Ill probably have some questions for u later down the line lol. Thanks for the insperation though. Ill try and make a nice thread like this

Looks great man! I know how hard and stressful it can be to do all the work yourself. I have done a couple of my cars and a couple buddies cars, just try doing it when your job is to paint and do bodywork all day. Not fun but your doing a great job! Subscribed!

Stopped by again today and because they took too long to fix the imperfections and base, they're having to scuff the whole thing again. I have no idea why they didn't plan better to avoid this, but whatever. The teacher said that they're hoping to get to basecoat tomorrow! Don't hold your breath, but I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks for the support guys!
