Open header(via "Y" pipe@header flange) VS 2.5" into Vibrant 2.5" muffler
197.5whp/165tq last time on a Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer with closed exhaust running rich as hell from 6000-8000....The OPEN header should lean it out a little bit....
Going to do a baseline 1st, and then open the "Y"
I will post results....

Obviously open-header isn't the same as cat vs no cat. But it will definitely be nice to see the results. Which header do you have?

Vibrant
Agreed......Cats are for Chinese food!
These will be Dyno Dynamics #'s so the 1st person that compares them to 190whp dynojet #'s will have a booger flicked at them.......
H22A4 intake+60mm exhaust+Vibrant header was 178whp tuned
H22A-R intake+60mm exhaust+stock header was 178whp tuned as well(previously made 196whp@KING MotorSports)

Im confused are you talking about a straight pipe all the way back or a cat-delete? I have a test pipe on mine with a Apexi WSII and it has great pick up and sound.

Not sure what the OP is talking about......when I hear Str8 Pipe, I think pipe off the header all the way back with no muffler/cat/resonator

Dyno results from OPEN vs CLOSED aren't even worth posting. Because of the use of the "Y" pipe, exhaust velocity still pushes its way through my exhaust system......~5whp at VTEC and that was it!
Bottom line: Str8 Pipe NOT WORTH IT!!!
But, you decide!

uh NO not really? I had a problem with the sound a while back, it would pop on decel but I found it was an exhaust leak. No bumble bee sound at all. And I'm not claiming and HP gain, it just feels more responsive, didn't say faster. WOW and meaning more responsive with the full exhaust setup, not just throwing a "test pipe" on it. I did this all at one time.

the only problem i had was one of my flanges kept coming loose and would make a raspy sound during decel and sometime during or around 3k accel. other than that, ive had quite a few people complement me on the sound of my exhaust and they tend to be suprised when i tell them i have a test pipe on it.

i totally understand your reference to a butt dyno, i have NEVER nor will i ever claim any amount of HP simply by guessing. to be straight forward i have never even had my car dynoed. i get where your coming from though, a lot of people make claims of power simply by getting in their cars. i simply meant i felt a difference in throttle response (with all three - header, test pipe & exhaust), what just the test pipe did, who knows.

Vibrant header.....and you have to keep in mind that a lot of the exhaust was still passing through the muffler because of my "Y" design.....So that wasn't a TRUE OPEN HEADER.
5whp@VTEC X-over....thats it.....Nothing beyond ~5500 or so.....and no way near worth driving like that. By 6000rpm my ears would bleed.....And also keep in mind, I wind my motor out to ~8300rpm+ because of my JUN HEAD.
