No donations yet, but I'M making moves towards getting my time down into the 4 hour range this year.
Just signed myself up for a half marathon on the 1st of August. This will be my 3rd event since getting moved up here. Did a little 5k last week, got a triathlon I'm doing in a couple of weeks, and now this. http://www.gfymca.org/events/ That's the week my friends back in Hawaii and I will be officially kicking off our 20 week training program. Honestly I can't wait for December to get here. I feel I'm going to be more prepared than ever before. I'm completely committed to this thing. Hopefully I can get a few people to back me up this year. Thanks for looking. I'll keep everybody updated as the days, weeks and months go on. |

Thank you man. It's very appreciated. Lets see if you opened up the flood gates.
![]() Once you make a donation shoot me an email with your contact information. (name, email, mailing address, phone #, whatever you want to give up). I'm only going to use this info to thank/recognize your support with either an email, some pictures of the run, thank you cards, not sure yet. The ACS appreciates your donation, but so do I for backing me up in this. Not quite sure how I'm going to recognize everybody this year, but I'll come up with something. I'll help you out again this year. I just lost a cousin last week to cancer. Thank you again for doing this very charitable endeavour.

Thanks Jan, it was just her time I guess. She was actually battling it for a while, but finally decided she didn't want to be in pain anymore. I know one day a cure will be found for this horrible illness.
It's been pretty nice here, some hot days the past few weeks. But now we start to play "Dodge That Hurricane" lol. Looks like it might be a busy season this year. If I can, I'll donate again before the deadline.

Got a triathlon tomorrow morning. Nothing big. 400m swim, 12 mile bike and a 5k run.
Then on the 23rd there's a 5K to help out one of my local running club members in her fight against breast cancer. All these things leading up to the official start of the training program. Woohooo!!! |

Just finished my first triathlon in over a year. Man, talk about a wake up call. Biking and running need some serious work. Just wanted to share.

Did the Ta Ta Crusade 5K tonight. All I can say is WOW!!!
Hell of a turnout. I was expecting maybe 50 people at the most. The park was packed. I'd say at least 300 people showed for this thing. Awesome stuff when people come together to help out somebody they don't even know. On a side note, I knocked that 5k out in about 30 minutes flat.

This exercise we have going on this week is really not jiving with my training schedule. That and the weather not really playing along. So I've been logging all my miles on the treadmill in the exercise room here in the apt.
Got a half marathon I'm running this Saturday. I'll be sure to post results when done. Keep donating folks. $20 here, $10 there really helps.

Alright alright alriiiight!!!! Testing the waters this morning to see where I stand. Doing my first half marathon this morning. The rain stopped, the forecast looks good, and my new shoes showed up in the mail yesterday (not using them though since using a distance race to break in untested shoes is like playing Russian roulette).
I should be back by noon today and will report back with my status.

Half Marathon in the books!!!
2 hours 34 minutes. Not great but not horrible either. Hobbled with a cramped up right calf muscle the last 5 miles. With my training program and dropping about 30 lbs, that 4:59:59 or less marathon is looking pretty damn possible

Well, ordered new shoes since this latest pair of new ones really isn't working out for me. Going back to my old faithful Asics Kayanos. Can't wait for them to get here.

Sounds like you are putting in some serious miles. Remember to take your glucosamine. Ha.
Keep it up Jan.
