The other car ran a 9.7@140mph around here(2500ft elevation, 5800 DA) naturally aspirated. That's the one with the 3.5" aluminum exhaust. Saved 25 lbs on that car.

I have followed every pic you have posted, and I think your work is some of the very best I have seen. A compliment from a guy with your skills comes in high regard, thanks.
I have had so much trouble getting into the real nice stuff because I don't charge enough.
People here think that if you are not expensive, you can't be any good. I rised my prices alot, and then I get some work form guys who care. I have just been going way above and beyond on my own, charging scab rates. That said, I love this stuff.

Wow, I have had a similar situation, except now that I charge what I should be charging, a lot of people are going elsewhere. I've been told by a few guys that I charge too little, but as soon as I raised my price, I found people not biting after a quote. Here in MTL, we never even SEE the nice muscle cars, let alone work on them.

I'd love to hear a sound clip of the aluminum mufflers ...

Here are the mufflers on a 750hp 399 ci v-8(8600 rpm shifts!)

Yeah, well times are a lot tougher out east than here. There are muffler shops charging $2500 for a mig'd 409 exhaust, with draw-bent tubing of course. That really made me think I wasn't charging enough!!! Another guy had headers and exhaust installed on his SRT-10 truck, and the cost was $18000!!!! The parts were only about $4500. That place is known for terrible gouging though. Corvette guys flock there with money in-hand.

I'd so like to start my own shop, but I'm so risk adverse. I also love my day job too much to give it up unless I was absolutely sure the money would be rolling in. Summers off and a ton of free training, along with decent pay for work required. Busted my *** to get that job, likely retire there.
Just keep doing what you are doing, hopefully your rep will pull you through.

question, how does the aluminum compensate the heat? for example the skyline isnt it getting too hot? i read somewhere that aluminum, the hotter it gets the more it oxidizes... but thats a great alternative to titanium!!!

Proper sizing is everything. I have aluminum exhaust on my driver/week-end racer.
Almost 2 years with no issues. We tried to melt it on the dyno with timing changes, but it melted the dyno operators 600F hose instead. At that point, I knew it would work great.
If it can take 600F with no air moving around it, it will work great at speed.
Titanium is great, but is not readily affordable. I'd love to work with it more, but nobody wants to foot the bill...yet.

If aluminum is so good then why not aluminum headers/turbo manifolds?

because like i said, when aluminum gets heated up it tends to corrode, the more heat the more corrosion. thats why they used a stainless downpipe but then they used aluminum because the heat can go through it much faster. a turbomanifold out of aluminumw ould be impossible because on a turbo engine the exhaust gas and heat is restricted by the turbine wheel. it would melt instantly. but as for exhaust, after the catalyzer it looks like aluminum is a good alternative to titanium

Here is some dual 2.5" straight pipes for a hemi (RT) magnum. Sounds mean. Saved almost 75lbs!!!!!




Here is single 3" for an Evo 10. This car goes pretty good. :thumbsup:

Turned out decent, and actually goes up into the car as one piece!!!!:clap:
It's tight though.
Equal length twin-scroll, dual wastegates.

Good question!
Honestly, I think knowledge and clean work area. Too big of a mouth is a bad sign. Good welders let the work speak for itself.

Where I am no one can weld like that even when you ask them to make it look nice it still comes out looking like crap and it hangs like an old ladies *******. Wish you were here in Atlanta because I would bring you my car to redo the exhaust.
