8mm bolt broke off my FITV.... how to fix?
I had nothing to do so I decided to be proactive... bad mistake.
I was taking off my GSR FITV to be cleaned like in this thread.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...highlight=FITV
I snapped the head of the 8mm bolt off. I used a dremhl and tried to cut a slit so i can unscrew it (no luck).
Questions:
1) Do I really need FITV? if not how to I block it off from TB?
2) How do I take out the screw?.... melt it with a torch, what kinds of shops could extract it?
3) if all else fails.... are other FITV interchangeable with the GSR TB?

Buy an appropriately-sized reverse threaded bolt removal tool, and then drill a hole through the center of the stuck bolt. The tool will allow you to back the broken bolt out of FITV.
Alternatively, drill out the stuck bolt and then use a tap-and-die set to rethread the FITV.
Buy a new bolt from a hardware store.

the "reverse threaded bolt removal" tool....
where can I buy one? sears... autozone?
Couldn't I just being it to any auto manchanic shop and have them do it?.... I would imagin they deal this (broken bolts) issue all the time.

Sure, a shop would do it for you, but I think this a job that can be done at home with a drill and the proper tool. Of course, doing the job yourself will be much cheaper.

Re: 8mm bolt broke off my FITV.... how to fix?
Thanks guys, I'll try that tool.
In the meantime I found out that the 92-95 civic D15b7 (DX/LX) FITV will work on a GSR TB.
They are identical except the DX/LX coolant neck is not "arched upwards" but rather level. that "neck" piece could easily be swapped out (just 2 phillips screw heads) but I'm not going to mess with it since there's no issue how the hose will fit on.

take it to a machine shop and they will be able to take care of it for like 25. bucks, the more you drill and try to take out yourself then the more money that it takes but if the cost goes over that of the part then just get another one.

he has a honda. bolts break on old cars. you need to learn how to take out a broken bolt. and having the tools will save him in the long run, if he is the one working on his car usually.
