All Motor F2K Coupe (Fwd F20c)
I wanted to put this post up to show some things that we are trying out this year, and mainly to thank everyone that contributed to getting this car out racing this year.
Its an all motor street car weighing 2100lbs , with Inline Pro's F2K setup that allows us to use a f20c from an s2000 , mated to a K series trans with the help of their adapter plate. It uses custom axles , available from DSS, a k series halfshaft and custom halfshaft adapter. It also uses a custom flywheel available in both single and twin disc applications. The motor doesnt sit much differently than a K series, just a few more degrees angled back towards the firewall.
We have been planning the transition from last year's H2B setup to the F2K since late November. However didnt start gathering parts until January. Pretty much the only thing I did in the off season was painted the Engine bay.
Our goal was to have the car ready for Honda Day on April 19th. With no exaggeration, we did the entire setup from install, custom race wiring harness, troubleshooting, painting front end, fabrication, tuning and testing - in less than a week and a half.
I brought the car to the RSTECH garage april 7th. It was just a shell with no wiring, motor or front end. We got right to work putting in a mock up shortblock and trans to get things started. Jeremy Allen @ Inline Pro built our motor and we had it Wednesday April 15th. From that night on, it was an all out thrash session. We were in the garage from 8am - 2pm every single night.
We got it started on Friday, Tuned on Saturday night at Midnight, and Were at Honda day, Bright and early on Sunday.
We blew up a starter on the dyno that night. Where do you get a s2000 starter at midnight on a saturday ? BY Tuning in North Jersey Came through for us and got us one. We were only able to tune the car to 8500 due to not being able to make any more pulls.
The motor setup is pretty basic.
89mm Bore
99mm crank
Inline Pro Rods
14:1 CP pistons
Stock Port head
Inline Pro VJ
AFI Manifold w/90mm TB
ID 1000cc injectors
SSR 4-1 header
Supertech valves
Inline Pro Springs and Retainers
Brian Crower Cams
It made 284 HP on a Mustang Dyno
Type S trans w/4.7fd , OBX lsd
Competition Clutch Twin Disc
At honda day we were able to get the car to go 11.08 on just the 2nd pass hitting limiter and coasting through the traps . 3rd pass I missed 3rd gear , but the car trapped 121.6. We brought the car to Spring Nationals at etown this past weekend in hopes of getting that 10sec pass but had some clutch issues. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be a consistent high 10sec all motor car. And then we throw in a "big motor:
There is absolutely no way this car could have finished without the help of many people/companies/friends across the country. You dont realize how much work goes into something, especially something that no one has really ever done before. Sorry if this will sound like an acceptance speech, but these people all deserve to be recognized.
THANK YOU :
-Tim and Kristin Grey - For everything- too much too list
-Randy and Wayne From RSTECH - Without you 2 guys I would still be sitting in the shell dreaming of what could be. From fabrication, to tuning, to wiring , to well everything. RSTECH- we do it all ! ! ! Could not ask for better shop or friends to deal with.
- Jeremy Allen @ Inline Pro- For building some of the baddest motors out there especially in less than a week, for desiging the f2k kit and allowing me to test it , For answering my phone calls at midnight, for overall guidance, for sharing your knowledge with us. For helping every step of the way and more.
-John @ Inline Pro - for letting us monopolize Jeremy's time when we come down
- My Brother Jared for getting it done when it needed to be
-Tony S. @ Skunk2 - Hands down the best suspension products I have ever used. Pro-Cs make my life so much easier!
-Wil @ Exospeed - for the killer wheels !
-Miller @ NRG Tech- For parts, advice, questions and overall being a great person to deal with
-Martin @ Supertech - Supertech Valves, need I say more !
-Fonse's Performance for the use of their dyno
-Danny @ SSR for building the header off of just pictures
-Jesse @ Afi for the manifold

Jake -
Car looks AWESOME and can't wait to get to the track when it's NOT raining and see you get some clean passes in the car, I have no doubt that it will be in the 10's this year and you will be a great competitor at all the upcoming events, when all the hard work will start to pay off!
BTW, nice pics!

not parkay, not no margarine. its butter baby.
its amazing how well it performs with just a valve job, rods and high compression pistons. forget about the big motor this thing is going to be a problem when its sorted out. good stuff jake.

Thank you to everyone for the compliments. It is really appreciated.
It was a collaborative effort from everyone involved!
We use MT 24.5s and were cutting mid 1.5s in the few passes we have had so far.

hows the ground clearance on the motor? can't dump the car lower?

The ground clearance is great. The Pan tucks very nicely.
I can definitely go lower but I wanted to leave it where it was until I get it aligned. I havent had time to take it to get done yet. Before we put it on the rack, I will be cranking those skunk pro - Cs down !

I think that the F20 with Inlines kit sits in the bay better than a K. It definatly has more ground clearance than a few other K kits i've seen.

Yep that was from etown this past weekend. Funny enough both cars in the video had clutch issues and didnt get them into 2nd gear that pass . .
