If it doesn't work out how you intended...just use some aircraft remover and it will take off the spray paint stuff and leave the original finish perfectly intact...I had to do this on some Rota GT3's one time and they came out just fine.

lol. i got bored with my white TE37's and painted them FLAT BLUE.

some people hated. some people loved em. i personally got sick of them...and sold those wheels for super cheap.

i think you coulda used a few more coats of paint and it would have turned out pretty good.

That looks pretty horrible. I think you need more technique and better paint. Prepping them is not really the big deal. I didn't prep my Si wheels at all. I cleaned them and primed/painted them. This is how they turned out:

I decided to F up my stock AP1 wheels for a track event since I had bought ADVANs allready (but no decent tires to put on them back then).

Both pictures were with the paint completely 100% dry.

I use paint from NAPA that they mix up. I used Laguna Seca blue for the AP1 wheels the first time around (in the pics). Then Voodoo blue (The toyota FJ cruiser color) later on. I used Kaiser Silver (GM ITR wheel paint code) for the Si wheels.

I coat, recoat, then lots of coats of clearcoat to keep the brake dust from embedding.

Those TE37s look BAD...in a bad way. The problem with spray paint is that it chips easily and brake dust works it's way in especially if you track the car. I'd have them blasted and powder coated.

Thanks. I'm in the process of stripping them back down to the original polish. I haven't had any motivation to do it though lol....the wheels have just been sitting in the basement.

actually it looks like it was too far. It looks splotchy and non glossy. He used too little paint. Tried to do it all with one can or something? It needs more coats and more clearcoat.
