Default Precision SC6262...

I have been searching for a couple of weeks on what turbo to go with on my build and it looks like the sc6262 is going to be it. I have a ls/vtec with a b16 head, gsr cams, sleeved block, forged pisons/rods, 9.1 comp, ramhorn manifold, 3" dp, and exhaust is a 4". Im shooting for 600whp. I have a p28 with hondata s300 installed. I would like to get the sc6262e so that I can run a 3" pipe for an air filter as space is a bit tight in my engine bay. The sc6262sp would also fit but I would not be able to run a filter. What would I be loosing if I went with the "e" cover vs "s" ported cover? Spool slower, loose top end hp? Would the difference be quite a bit at 600+ whp? I would be comparing the two without filters on as I can run the "e" cover with out the filter at the track (would always use the filter for the streets). Thanks

you can use the s cover, if you get a 4" to 3" silicon reducer coupler and make your 3" intake. its hardly 15 to 20 dollars. why sacrifice the hp for 20 dollars .... its a good turbo by the way for your goals. if low down power is not your goal then id recommend get the .82 ar exhaust, itll make the b16 scream up top .....

I am sure its possible, but I wouldnt choke a 4" inlet with a reduced 3" pipe. You can fit a 4" CAI on a Ramhorn you just have to be creative.

i ordered the 6262s billet wheel 2 or 3 weeks a go they had an issue with the s covers and assured me that if i'm running a filter it will make no difference, as well as the s cover and the regular cover have both been used in mid 700 applications. my tuner is the one who ordered it and sees no issue at all unless i was trying to squeeze everything out of my set-up GL with the build

This is with a t3 60-1, slim fan, half core radiator moved as far left as possible, and I have AC so there is a full size condensor in front not allowing space for a fan in front of rad.

if you want your turbo any time soon, scratch the ported shroud turbo off of your list. ive had one on back order for nearly a month. i have 3 billet 62's with standard S cover on cars here now, and another 6262E that will be here monday.

these turbo's are selling so well, precision is having a hard time keeping up with the orders.

What do you think of the E cover vs the S cover as far as power goes?

Id go with Joes idea...get the regular "S" and screw the wait. Spin that turbo around so u can make that inlet. No way you're going to fit 4" through there.

I am running AC on my set up. If I had gotten rid of my AC this lil project would have been much easier, but the summer would have been pretty bad.

this turbo seems to be a pretty big hit so far. AWDmotorsports ran their evo into the 8s with this turbo in T3 configuration

At about $900 for the journal bearing unit the price is pretty good. I had been searching for a couple of weeks now, looking up dyno charts from different turbos and set ups, and it was between this turbo and the S259. I am not going to be pushing 700whp, but I like the fact that the sc6262 can put out the power when I decide to upgrade my fuel system and ignition system. The only thing I found mixed reviews on was how long this turbo should hold up...

I guess I should be glad I ordered mine at the beginning of this year and got it very quickly, when they still had stock on the ported milled shroud s cover... as you said I hear these are selling so well they are getting pretty swamped with orders.

Precision's billet compressor wheel line-up...

Their billet compressor wheel line up keeps them going because now they don't have to go to pre-manufactured inconel wheels that cost them quite a bit of money (and contract negotiations). It helps them w/ a variety of sizes, not normally available.

Doubtful.. They'll just make their own for something above size. Garrett currently makes a GT55 in a billet wheel.
