Default ls rods gsr pistons?

Anyone know if this will work? for higher compression? Going in a b18a1

so are you using GSR rods and pistons or just the pistons? the LS has a longer stroke than the GSR rods, which would be better for slightly more displacement

When my Friend rebuilt his B18b, he used either GSR or Type R pistons and stock ls rods in an attempt to slightly increase the compression ratio.

I do not think he had any problems doing this, but was not there when he assembled it.

i would suggest getting your rods shotpeened if you are gonna be revving higher than 7200rpm. but ya gsr pistons will raise compression

you can use any b-series piston, except for b20's. b16,b18's are all 81mm pistons, im not sure of b17's. but yes gsr pistons will raise compression, the pistons are rated at 10:1 (usdm) nd 10:5 or 10:6 for type r's (usdm). you don't have to shotpeen rods or get rod bolts but it is safer to go that route since you already have them out. my friend has had his completely stock bottom end and head ls/vtec for 2 years. 8200rpm all day long no problems.

Yes you can use them but you will have to get the rod milled down, it is to big to fit in the piston. At least that's what i had to do.

IMO, if you're going to take your engine apart just to add pistons, i'd go ahead and buy another set of LS rods and crank and get those machined and what not to also put in...just doesn't make sense to me to do all that work just to add pistons and do nothing else

well i just had my crank micro polished, then came to find out that my piston walls were bored out... so there goes that whole idea... thinking of a resleeve..

The reason he didnt have a problem is because he was using an LS rod in an LS block. No change in rod length. The pistons, most B-series pistons are interchangeable. The pin height is all the same. so the only thing that really changes is the compression.
