~*~Targa Top CRX project build
Bought this '90 Si CRX off a buddy of mine recently. He started this project a few years back but never finished (no time on his hands). So i'm gonna start up this project now. I been reading from HT for a few years now, just never posted much. But i think it's time I start doing that =]
In case some of you are wondering, 3in support beams are welded on each side on the underside of the body to support the chassis (since the roof was cut).
This is what the car looked like when my buddy had it:
Yes those are silvia head lights and yes that is a silvia front end conversion.
This is what the car look like now after being sanded down and ready for paint:
yes these are RSX tail lights haha
Dynomat covered all the interior (i know it weighs down the car a lot, but im not for ALL-performance on this CRX, i have an '88 HF for that ;] haha)
JDM B16A engine swap ODB0:
Air suspension system of all 4 wheels:
Air compressor
hard lines on rear wheels, soft lines for the front (for now =P)
NO DOOR HANDLES! lol door poppers are installed (remote activated to pop open doors).
Targa top, it jus sits on top for the moment without latches to lock it in place AND rain can get in too. Copied from the Del Sol T-Top
Custom leather seats (professionally dyed red/black to match Momo access.)
Interior (custom fiberglass parts all around):
The paint on the dash is what the paint used to look like on the body (red with light shined on, blackish w/out light)
Trunk and rear
Front and door panels
Rest of the interior
For the Kicker Subs
For the Kicker Amps
Sound and Lighting:
Amps
Speakers
Lighting
LCD that goes where glovebox normally is on the dash
Gauges that needs to be hooked up
New Rotors (haven't gotten them cross-drilled yet)
Electronic Air suspension control needs to be hooked up
Custom Exhaust (2in dual piping) with Skunk2 mufflers
Chrome Rims (Arelli 18")
Trying to sell the set if anyone is interested (5 wheels total, 4 with tires)
This is what the car looked like before paint:
Molding the fiberglass dash
The B16 is stock stock stock unfortunately =[ but I have ideas as to what to do next. BUT FIRST, hookup the rest of the **** first haha.
Yep, that's all I got for now. I live near Seattle, WA and planning to hopefully finish hooking up the stuff on the inside before the Honda Tech meet at golden gardens beach on April 4th. If you live nearby and wanna lend a hand, that would be awesome! PM me

love the top, but oh lordy on the bodykit, taillights, and front end conversion
that aside i think i'm still oddly curious how this will turn out when you're done with it. i'm hoping you'll be changing those rims too.. lol, but i mean whatever creams your twinkie.

Re: ~*~Targa Top CRX project build
By the way, this is my '88 HF
It's another project, planning to throw a K20 in it. As soon as I get the '90 Si close to done, I'll start this up
Stripped and gutting process:
The interior parts are sprayed painted for now LOL!
A lil sneak preview of the '88 KRX =D

x2... but at least it is well executed. Definitely some craftsmanship on someones part. If I where going to change something it would be the front end, the back end, the sides, the top and the wheels. But that's just me.

yeah at least the execution looks to be better than 95% of the Honda-tech stage 1 (coilover sleeves on stock shocks, amber turn signals, rotas, ebay front lip, rookie driver badge) cars

That car is unsafe as it sits. Having cut the roof out of a CRX (parts car) and driving it the chassis flex so much that eventually the car bent itself in half. The roof is a major part of these cars and by doing what has been done you have taken away a lot of structure. You need to have that reinforced with some internal bars. All targa top cars have this in there already because they were designed that way, be it extra sheet metal or other forms of bracing. In what I see here I would not ride in that car with you.
I highly suggest you give my post some thought.

I would not drive that car as is.

I think its ok. The style is outdated. More like late 90's style, but i still love how your trying to save it. I still have a little ricer in me...hehe.
