Default DIY: OEM Fogs on with Parking & Highlights

!!!This does not apply to replica foglight kits!!!
This was done on a 04 Civic. 01-03 Civics might be similar.

1. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery

2. Remove the steering column garnish, fusebox panel & center console.

3. This is how to make your foglights stay on with the highlights. De-pin this wire (red/white) from the headlight switch harness.

4. Ground this wire anywhere you choose. Congrats! Your foglights now stay on with the highlights.

5. Now, to be able to turn on the foglights when only the parking light is on you have to do the following. Disconnect these bundle of wires in front the center console.

6. Keep the foglight bundle aside and reconnect the oem bundle together.

7. You may think there's a lot of wires, but there's not. If you remove the tape where the loom joins, you'll only see one wire (red/ylw). That goes to the relay.

8. Cut where the loom joins to the bundle of wires. You'll only need this part of the harness.

9. In the center console area, there's a bundle of wires going to the back. Within this bundle there's 2 red/ylw wires. With your multimeter, check which one of these red/ylw wires passes a 12v current when the parking lights go on. Strip the skin off that wire. As you can see i stripped the wrong one :p

10. Solder the red/ylw wire coming from the relay to the red/ylw wire you just stripped.

11. Congrats! Your foglights now stay on with the highlights & can come on with the parking lights.

it will eventually be in the FAQ, but since toyomatt doesn't mod the forums much it might take a while

How different is this installation with the use of a switch?

People up here usually get pissed off when you drive around with your fogs on lol....jerks

this is the OEM foglight kit, so a switch is already wired in. this DIY shows you how to rewire the harness so you can choose to have the fogs on ANYTIME as long your parking lights are on. the OEM fog harness only allows you to have the fogs on when your low-beams are on, which defeats the purpose of have foglights since you want the low beams off and the fogs only on in the event of heavy fog or rain
