Default Presidential Detailed: 2004 Chevy Avalanche

After detailing Tim's RX-8, he brought me his mothers Chevy Avalanche. Not only was it in for a full exterior detail, I also had to remove the nearly disintegrated pin striping from the truck. Overall, the truck wasnt in that bad of shape, it was just BIG and dirty! Everything went well until my buffer broke in the middle of the detail! I wanted to get a new one anyways, and heres a good excuse right?? :D

I have viewed all of your detail threads on here, and you do amazing work! Would you share with me that secret that you used to remove the old pin-striping, my dad has been begging me to get rid of his, but I haven't figured out the easiest and safest way.

I actually use both 3m blue and green, green is the lowest tack. If I run out I stick with blue, its a low tack.

Its called an eraser wheel made by 3m. Check your local paint supply stores, they should carry them. You can use it on a drill.

you know... how do I go about finding someone in my area , las vegas, that does as good a job as you do? I see mobile wash services all the time, but not to the level you are doing it. also, what is an industry standard price for this level of work?
thanks

WOW! These detail threads kill me. lol
Amazing work!

Can you explain more on the eraser wheel? Does it hurt/scratch the paint? Is it easy to use? I have been wanting to remove the OEM pin stripe on my car, but don't want to scratch the paint at all.

The eraser wheels will not hurt the paint, however it is a good idea to have some Meguairs 105 or compound to remove the gumi residue left from the eraser. The easiest way to remove the residue is with a buffer. It can be done by hand but will definently require some work to get rid of the residue.

I like the way the truck came out!! I am a big Menzerna fan, but have never tried the Super Intensive product. I have had great success with Power Gloss, Power Finish and Super Finish.

Again, Really nice work!!
