Default JDM D15B (non-vtec)?

Ok so I picked up a EE wagon a couple weeks back, and been so busy havn't really had time to poke around in the engine bay. So being not as familiar with the D series motors as I am with the B series.

The block is stamped D15B which I thought was only a JDM Vtec motor. Did they make a (non-vtec) version? I'm assuming I just have a D15B block with a non-vtec head.

YES I SEARCHED! Any info would be appriciated.

I've attached 2 quick pics taken with my cam phone, not the greatest.

True but I didn't know that was a JDM engine. Is it?

A lot of JDM motors are vaguely stamped, many D series are just stamped D15B. In fact, my D15Z1 is stamped D15B. The D16Z6 equivalent is stamped D15B also, so I wouldn't be surprised if the others were as well.

Hi there,
I currently own a JDM civic with a D15b engine which is dual carb and non V-Tech ('91). Engine produces 106hp(ps) and looks very similar to your engine in the photo. the V-Tech engine was D15B1 or D15B3 for a three stage V-Tech controller I think!

sorry to once again bring this thread back but im really confused, i bought a 1993 civic hatch it is bone stock it has ac but no power locks or windows or power steering its a manual and the engine says 16 valve and has the honda emblem set off to the side, the block is stamped d15b but every picture i see of a d15b in a 1993 civic eg hatch says vetec on it, mine isnt a vetec it has an intake tube about the size of a paper towel roll.....its the smallest tb iv ever seen in my life...im pretty sure my lawn mpwer has a bigger one lol, iv got a z6 head and intake mani to swap on, my engine is already mpfi, im so confused, also i have no idea what trim i have

Awake the dead thread.
I recently bought a 92 DX hatch, it has has a D15B non vtec I know it's not original to the car. How do I figure out if it's an older motor meant for the older carbureted civics. I'm looking for a thread that has good references on how to properly swap a jdm D15B non vtec into a non vtec dx hatch, wiring and sensors. If I were a betting man I would say it's a non vtec D15B with the intake and throttle that was on the original engine. Any references would be greatly appreciated.

I say Why make new threads for the same topic
