Default IAluder95s Build thread H23vtec Turbo

UPDATE: The car is done. A lot people came together for me to get this car running. After the 5 years of collecting parts, and figuring out exactly what I wanted, its done. I only had the car running for 3 weeks before Army Basic Combat Training started. We had some slight problems on the dyno, the shop that assembled my head tightened the cams to the point it was smacking my valve train. after two pulls and noticing it not making the normal type writer sounds, we fixed it before it destroyed the head. it did make a few nice nicks in the rockers. had to empty the v-tec solenoid had some shavings in it causing it not to engage. the next day and a full tank of E85 later we made 478whp and 428wtq. new parts have been installed and need to retune this beast.
Got to the track a few times and ran a 9.22 @ 98mph in the 1/8 on a set of 16x6 with falken rts in 2010.

I'd like to personally thank Wrenches Automotive in Des Moines, Iowa (Wrenches has been closed) for the hard work and headache of getting this mess started. they did help me make a few hard decisions that i had no clue exactly what to do. Brian is an excellent tuner with vast knowledge. Chad is the guy who helped me after hours fix my valve train and also lent me his Hondata because phaereable.net screwed me over.

Rosko is my primary helper on here that you know. he has helped out in many ways and i would like to thank him for his hard work and time. unlike many HT people im lucky enough to have a fellow prelude guru within 15 mins of my garage.

thanks to by friend Chris C for all the late nights installing it all
thanks to Dagle for the clutch. much appreciated.
thanks to ryan Wyzer for painted parts and clean things up installing and other crap
thanks to preludestud11 for getting me some nice slicks and clean fenders
thanks to pirate for the stock calipers
thanks to wrenches for all the welding and tune
thanks to sparkles for wiring up parts, clean it up parts, and keep it maintained in my absence

What have you done to help with the traction ? You're gonna get over 500 horses ( maybe 600 whp depending on your Boost pressure ) to the wheels with that setup, you're gonna have major traction issues. I'm sure you're well aware of this, just wanted to know what you've done to battle those issues. Nice setup , and here's a silly question .. you plan on Daily Driving this car or is this going to be Drag-Strip only ?

i have done a lot of suspension work so far. just missing the explicitspeed traction bar kit. that will be purchased before i go to the strip for sure.

ok, question. is it a good idea to use the civic alternator over the prelude? im looking to reduce the weight and gain an extra inch of space for the down pipe. which of course will be 3inchs.

i think i can make it work with the stock prelude one, but i just put a new one in my salvaged title EJ, and i plan to remove it before i junk it next spring.

both will likely be able to sustain the same voltage. I know ESP has a bracket so you can use a d series alternator and it also lower the unit.

the mount is different so unless you can make a bracket (easy since you can weld and ****) or have rosko CNC you a piece, then it wont work.

i have no doubts that that manifold will work, but it defiantly doesn't have waste gate priority

Good luck on making power!

From what I remember they ran that manifold up to 640 or so, and its what they had on the car when they ran 10.9, then they stepped it up to the equal length mani and setup, hit 788, and couldnt keep the engine together due to balancer issues, which finally got sorted out this last month.

so i decided since the car isn't going anywhere in a long time. might as well go all out and get it exactly the way i want it before next year. after all i don't get my DL back till January.

so the removal began! starting will all the interior parts i no longer need such as ac, heater core, vent box, and trim pieces.

the interior under the dash and behind the plastic gauge area:

i weighed the removed items and the total amount was close to 50 pounds. i still need to and want to remove all unnecessary wire harness and wires. i know that can add up to another 17-20 pounds according to a write up on HT.

i need to get the car running so i can hit a scale and see how much this junker weights.
