Lol I love the hammers too! I cleanded them up and repainted them gunmetal and left the silver lip! I plan on slaming it come spring cause right now winter is almost here and it wouldn't make sense! And yes I did sand everything down including the entire car before I primed it all! Thx for the info though, where can I see some of the work you've done???

well since we are getting technical you dont sand "all" the clear coat off, you need to sand it down to a dull finish before any paint or primer will properly adhere to it.

also technically you are supposed to go down to bare metal for bondo... technically speaking that is. spot puddy works well though.

Wow that looks really good! You cant tell there was ever any damage! nicely done!

And I did wetsand the entire car so that it wasnt shiny (dull) so that the primer would stick and where I did most of the bondo it was well sanded and mostly down to the bare metal cause I had used a cut wheel to cut all the rust off thats how I ended up with the really big holes! That I couldnt fix correctly!

yea thanks man...been in the trade for almsot 3 1/2 years...
the big holes will be easier if you use some fiberglass .. it will hold strong and help alot..

yea its good that u sanded it down to a dull finish the primer wouldent stay on long..
and what he said is true we always take it to bare metal before we use filler...
for some jobs we use kitty hair a good strand filler will help aswell

i would use easy sand to fill in all those pin holes. and you need to put more putty on that rocker i can see its really low.

Well like I said it was my first time EVER painting a car and I know it didnt come out good but its good enugh for me! And some of us just dont have the cash to pay someone to do the things! If you pay someone to do it for you not only do you not learn form experience and mistakes but you dont apreciate it as much as you would had you done it yourself! You have to make mistakes to learn form them right?

right...

you could always resand that thing down and respray it... just thin down the paint more next time... you might get less orange peel that way

I'd re-do it while its still apart, just thin the paint more and it'll look a lot smoother

very noticeable rear fender line.

you have the skills just redo the things that need to be fixed correctly and then respray and you'll be looking better.

definite props to you for trying to do it yourself, but wow that looks horrible. those quarters are [freak]ed, the rust is gonna come right back on those rockers and such, and the paint is just emaculately hideous. I always tell people to practice on something multiple times before they spray their own parts or cars. Like i said definite props to you for just digging into it and saying [freak] it, but some more research, and some more practice with a paint gun would have been much more beneficial. And single stage is tough for first timers cause it comes out alot thicker than base/clear. Base/clear is much more forgiving cause you can wetsand and buff alot easier. And clearcoat can make almost anythng look fantastic.
