Default Porsche 914 engine swap.

I posted my subaru powered 55 bug on here a while back and i wanted to show you guys my latest project. Its a 72 914 with a WRX ej20. Engine is all stock including the turbo. It's running on Stinger standalone and shooting for about 220 wheel horsepower. I built the car for a friends dad that is more concerned with reliability than horsepower so that was the main focus. So far it drives awsome on only 5 pounds of boost but will probably run 10 to 12.

Had to make a subframe type deal because the subi mounts are so close to the flywheel. The intercooler kinda sucks there but wernt really many options and it should be fine with the intended horsepower. Still need to spruce up the rest of the car, it's been sitting for 5 years. Hope you enjoy the pics!!

Nice setup. I am kinda partial to those cars. They are great little cars. You do realize the engine bay is a low pressure area and there is very little air forced through the engine lid? You should mount a fan or two to the engine lid to get some air on that intercooler.

pretty nice. I've seen way too many hack jobs putting in a water cooled motor, yours is super clean.

post more pics

It's sold by Outfrontmotorsports. They do subi motors for offroad stuff, mainly sandrails. I did megasuirt on my motor but i did not want to be responsible for it on this car. It is a true plug and play with the harness and a very good base map.

I'll get some more pics this weekend. Thanks for the compliments

Awesome! I'd love to see more pics of the underside/engine mounts.

I was at a car show the other day and there was one of these with a 650hp v8 in the back of it with a full cage and flared fenders. The radiator vented through the hood.

Baddass car that I would like to have one day.

Put a K20A in a 914 and you have a poor mans lotus. lol

That scubi engine looks stock on that car...especially since the paint match so well. Awesome man.

As turboteener said your aren't really generating anyflow for that intercooler in it's current position.

Place it under the rear bumper angled, something is better than nothing.

A/W is a lot easier to set up correctly in a mid-engine car.

I was never a fan of that body style (attractive as a billygoat), but it probably goes like hell now.

As mentioned, A/W would probably be a good setup, although a little heavier. With a little work, you could fab up a scoop like they use on the MR2's. Or just go crazy and mount it in the open above the rear window

That doesn't give a good pressure differential.

I agree with that and the efficiency in this location of a/w over a/a would be highly beneficial on this setup.

I meant like a roll/light bar. That happens to be the spot where the airflow over the car starts to reconverge, and is not a low pressure zone. I know what you mean by pressure differential, but you don't need a funnel of sorts when the intercooler is hanging out in the wind. Anyways it was meant as a joke
