He said Yugo and since he said he was stuck on bolt action, I'm 80% sure it's an M59/66 . We can't know for sure though because he didn't take a pic of the front.

I can see that. Any new 1911 though I don't care how nice it is shoot the damn thing. Unless it is some crazy decorative piece. Shooting a custom or semi custom 1911 is pure shooting bliss.

Co-Signed.

I damn near bought this piece(below) last week when I was back home. But I came to the conclusion that it was too pretty to shoot, and it was functionally identical to the Kimber Custom Target II that I already own, except for the engraving. I ended up buying a Sig 1911 C3 instead. I can shoot the shit out of it and not feel bad.

Pic of Kimber. There are only 250 made each year

Today, I Went to a range I've never been to before. FOP in St. Augustine, FL. I believe it's the same one where they filmed the first magpul dynamics dvd. It's really nice and the range guys were very friendly. I ended up using some 1x2's to make target stands. My buddy had some metal bases made, so it worked out great.

Took some pics and also got some Gun Pron for you guys. Hope you don't mind pics? (The only bad thing about being on a "free" range of sorts, is I went thru waaaaay too much ammo! HAHA I'm used to shooting at a bench w/ range nazi's making sure you don't rapid fire, so this was an awesome change of pace, and when we collected our brass...it filled up a bucket!)

Dude, when your buddy opens a fresh case of .45acp and says "have at it", It is my duty as a friend to help him use it, HAHA.

oh yeah, suppressors are by no means silenced! I had my ears off and someone lit off a couple rounds and that crap was still loud? haha what happened to the whisper like "phwuuut" you hear in the movies, lol.

we are going back soon for a night time shooting session. Should be fun, because we are bringing steel silhouttes, tracer rounds, and a tripod/camera. whoohoo!

I know what you mean man, first time I heard a suppressed M16 in full auto, I thought it sounded like a Sig Mosquito in rapid fire. I heard that 10/22s make the movie sound, but nobody around here has one for rent, so I can't confirm.

Out here in Utah, you can rent full auto and suppressed weapons at indoor ranges.

You are correct, it is indeed an M59/66.

If the selector is to the center and the sight post can go up, then you're stuck on single fire and the piston won't move at all.
I'm familiar with the selector button on the gas tube, & I can confirm the button was to the right, but the weapon would still not cycle.

If I were to hold the new gas cylinder in place beside the weapon and let the piston drop through the gas tube (keep me honest on terminology here) to see how far the piston will travel to push against the piston extension (which in turn pushes back against the bolt carrier & cycles the action), the end of the piston comes almost back to the front of the rear sight.

Conversely, if I were to do the same exercise with the old gas cylinder/handguard, the piston only drops an inch or so, or about half-way down the length of the piston extension, and rear sight assembly.

My first thought was that there was maybe a cosmoline build-up in there that was prematurely stopping the piston travel inside the original gas tube, but I can guarantee you that sum-beyotch is now clean as a virgin's conscience, but same result.

The only theory I have is perhaps a machining error during production, but that somehow seems unlikely. It seems equally unlikely however that it was intentionally made a bolt-action, so I dunno what to think, but in any event the rifle works perfect (well, as perfectly as a Yugo SKS is gonna function, anyhow) with the new gas tube, so the question is largely academic.

I finally got off work early enough to finish installing CDi Precision Bottom Metal on my Savage 10. This is a nice improvement over the factory 4 rounder.

Next purchase is going to be a nice base and rings. The scope was just put on with extra stuff from my box o'goodies. I need to order a shorter sunshade also if I can ever remember

Strange, mine functions flawlessly and it sits the way your old gas piston sits.

OK, I'm baffled & back to square one as far as understanding why the hell this thing doesn't work with the factory piece, but as long as it works now I guess I'm not going to get my panties too much in a bunch over it... Thanks for the info though!

Skeet is fun, I'm goin back to the skeet range here in about six hours. After last week, I've been searching for a nice over/under or a good break action because single loading my 870 sucks balls. I'm really interested in the Mossberg Silver Reserve O/U 12G/20G combo, but I need to wait on funding. You lookin to pick up a shotty anytime soon?

Maybe, especially if we start going to the range more. So much fun and her O/U was so much fun to shoot, though I almost hit myself in the face the first time I popped the shells out. lol Didn't know they came out that high.

On the round I shot, the guy behind us in line had a sick ass Benelli Vinci. He hit 24/25 like it was no big deal. Bastard.

Yeah, skeet is fun, very addictive, seeing that puff of smoke as you nail the skeet is the best!

Now bear in mind I'm sort of a Ruger fan-boy, but if you're looking for an O/U, I'd check out the Ruger Red Label, not cheap, but a very nice gun for the price, lower price than Browning / Benelli O/U offerings, and NOBODY stands behind their firearms like Ruger. A Red Label 20 gauge, 28" barrels is going to be my next purchase.
