The owner and nut swingers insist it is legit, however I have yet to see a REAL ITR with that hole. Hundreds of examples in the Hyper Rev books and never seen a real ITR with that hole.

Now the circled area has a circle indention, where non-Rs have a hole. Are you saying that the indention means the car is fake? I ask to clarify, since my R has the same indention.

It's not an indentation, it is an actual hole.

Yes, you can PM the owner....he's also a shop owner who built and tuned my car. Username and shop name is RedZone ...... they also have a real deal CTR sitting in their shop. I'd recommend PM'ing him if you guys have specific questions.

The DB8 in question, I have looked over in person and I seen a number of pictures of it. Here is my take on it:

1. Whatever it is, it is not a '97. It is for sure a 98+ car. The VIN starts out like this...DB8-130xxxx.
2. It does have the correct rear ITR lower subframe. Does this mean it could have been changed, yes. Likely, probably not.
3. It does have the hole on the right side of the engine bay for sure. I too was questioning this before and got into some arguements with some people over it. When I had the chance to look it over in person, I did notice that the welds/sealants are different looking than mine. Which leads me to believe that it had been replaced at some point in its life, as I know for sure that mine hasn't been replaced.

So my conclusion is that the car is more than likely real. Though I have come up with some more little things that are specific to the DB8-R that I didn't get a chance to look at, to finalize it. Even though the car is more than likely real, there is some wrong information. Such as the year of the car, but sometimes it is really hard to get any kind of info on these cars from Japan.
