Default Updates

Hi All,
My rear end is complete.. Running a Borg Warner 78 series diff with Watts linkage.
Rear tire size is 225/50 R15
Adjustable Spax sock abrorbers
Adjustable top trailing arms..
I opted to move the shocks on the inside of the A frame to make room for the wider tire.
Just need to clean it and give it a coat of paint to stop the rust forming for now..

Cheers
Leo

Great progress! Those wheels look huge against the little chassis!

what made you decide to go with a solid rear axle? i would think an IRS setup from an S2000, 240, etc would be better suited for this kind of car.

Leo,

Great project, I bow down to your fabrication skills.

It look like you changed your mind on the rear axle, orginally you had a Toyota unit in there. Why the change?

Not that I know anything...

Why use double trailing arms? Wouldn't the lower ones be good enough?
Are you planning on using a rear sway bar?
On such a narrow axle, would a panhard bar be as good as a watts linkage?
What are you plans for controlling chassis twist?
Will you be tri-angulating the frame with a roll bar?
15" wheels...don't they look kind of large on that frame? You would get a lower center of gravity with a smaller wheel.

Scott

Hi All,

Ended up selling my convertible that was on eBay..

Major change to the project!! I bought an S600 coupe which has had it’s driveline upgraded (Toyota 3K I think) I will be using this body for my project car.. I have out grown of the whole convertible thing..

The shell needs allot work..

I need patch panels for the front guards, I have the rear quarters..

Coupe has been stripped and the body will be blasted next week.. Photo’s to come..

Cheers
Leo

Wow, I hope someday I can afford to have my own garage to tackle a project like this. Very inspiring.

the Coupe body should be a lot stronger as well. i can't wait to see it done.

mine will be a long way off but with the price of S2000's falling sharply i should be able to buy a complete car to buy and break for the engine

the black paint around the side windows is exactly what i was thinking of on mine as well as a satin matt black bonnet (it's what racers did back then to stop sun glare) and paint the rear light surround satin black. looking at your S600 with the side window surround black i think it looks ok .

do you have a colour scheme planned for yours yet?

keep the pictures coming , my thread wont be updated for a long time yet.

Leo, glad to see that the parts finally made the 4 month trip. Since you have the coupe now, should I list my chrome pieces, extra doors, hood and rear deck?

I'll get you some pictures as soon as possible. The build is progressing slowly as I have five race cars and it isn't first on the list since the others are sponsored.
