Default BFG Drag Radial question.

Im trying to figure out what a good size for drag radials would be. We are making 471whp/300wtq and hoping to enter Street Tuner event. Would 215 or 225 be better? Also would these fit on 00Si rims or would it be better to buy new rims? Sorry if this has been answered alot but i cant seem to find the answer. I know 205 are kind of big so im thinking its a no. Thanks.

the 225's are a good size and will fit on a 6.5 wide wheel. But i would say try and get the m/t 225 radial. They are on back order but they are a better tire.

i run 225/50/15s on a 6.5" wheel also. I ran 11.7 @ 126 with them at around 375whp with a single stage boost controller. As long as your car isnt really low it want scrub.

here is a video of an 11.79 pass. If you listen hard you can tell it is spinning pretty damn bad even at a lower power level. 235/60/15 m/ts would be the way to go if you really wanna hook but they are HUGE! And a 225/50/15 M/T would probably be better than a BFG if you could find them.

here are some pics

Hey guys thanks for the comments. The transmission we are running is basically a 1-2 B16, 3rd GSR, and 4th LS with a B16 final drive. Might be changing the final drive to GSR, not sure yet.

I want a good size but at the same time not a huge size. Would the 235/60 scrap any? Right now the height is 2inch with 24.5/8/13 m/h @ 20psi. We set it up like this so when we do the burn out and brake we dont rub any. Blake - The 225 seem to be perfect for your car. I might go with those.

ive got 225bfgs on gsr 15" oe wheels making 425hp/286tq. they still spin. id say not a bad choice for a lower boost street tire. try an mt tire if you can, thats where im going to go next

Wow those 235 seem like over kill. I found a local shop that has 10 of the m/t in stock (or at least thats what they said). Might go with them since no one gave a good review on the BFG. If anyone is interested in the M/T and want to know that shop send me a PM.

you found some 225/50/15 m/t's?

cool man!!i tried before getting my 2nd set of BFG's but couldnt find any.

And you are pretty much guaranteed to run faster with those 235's if you are making enough power to pull up top. (id say 400whp+)

but yea, they are big.

I have 225 g forces on 15 inch ITR 5 lug rims and they work great.
but you are making about 200 more whp than I am.

The OP is running an LS 4th, with a 235/60/15 his car will be a dog up top at his power level, not to mention I would be scared to run a 26" tire on a Honda Tranny. I have ran 205 and 225 BFG's, the 205's def seemed to last longer, but the 225's obviously grab better. They wont be able IMO to put down 500whp in 3rd gear but they get the job done. I know with 550whp I destroyed warm 225/50/15 BFG's at around 14psi in the tires from an 80mph roll, I think they would do better with less air and on a prepped track however. Never got to race before I cooked my turbo.

very true.

the bfgs are great on a well prepped track and heated properly.

my 225s start to skip around on the street at about 390whp in 3rd gear, andi can hear them squealing at 420-430whp in 3rd gear, 28 psi on the street.

i smoked up(1/4 tread to flat bald) a set ot 205s doing a bunch of 60 rolls in one night. i had rubber chunks splattered on my fenders, no burnout just 60 rolls. this was a little under 400whp.

is there anything better than the bfg's in the 215 -225 or around 24" tire size????

You shouldnt break anything on the 235/60/15s. They are larger but you are still going to spin them in a lower gear. MT says that any radial tire they offer is not intended for a car with a clutch.
I love the way those 235/60/15's look on the EK.
