I wouldn't suggest welding with the turbo attached like that.. you can ruin bearings pretty quick that way.

it doesnt get nearly as hot as it does when it is on a running motor... i have temp sticked it before, the turbine housing doesnt get over 250 degrees..

Well its not the heat, its the arc that can pass through the material. You ever have a piece of metal that is almost touching or not enough material is grounded when welding? You get an arc spot on the material from an over load of current. Same thing can happen in the small parts of the turbo... results in a flat spot or imperfection on the bearing.
Just a word of caution for you. |

Fixed all the broken links to my images... on page 1...
i made a new folder on photobucket, moved all the pics to it, and it killed the links... so i finally converted them all.. as for updates, the manifold is pretty much done... it is at a machine shop right now having the head flange skimmed/milled... it was 3/8" steel and had a little bit of warpage around runners 2 & 3.. i will get pics... and have them up as soon as i get it from the machine shop.... (i have been on vacation in St. Pete FL, so i have been a little lazy) Modified by 9295EJ-t at 2:58 PM 7/15/2008 |
