usually this is a problem with the solenoid getting dirty or worn out. Removing the center console and the trim around your shifter will expose it. Unfortunately i am not familiar with the process for 2nd gen TL, but this is a common problem so im sure it has been covered elsewhere on the net.

See if your brake lights are working or not. They probably are not working, and you need to replace the brake switch located on the back side of the brake pedal arm. It is pretty easy and part is around 20$ from dealer.

Your right, my brake lights are not working. I will try to get a brake switch today to see if that works. I will keep you posted.

Yes it was the brake switch. Brake lights work now, and I can move the shifter out of park without using the manual override. $35 at the local honda dealer. Inflation sucks. Thanks for your help.
