Default garrett ball bearing rebuild question/location search on east coast

okay so i picked up a garrett ball bearing turbo on ebay for pretty cheap. the guy said it needed a rebuild. it had some minor shaft play. and it looks like the compressor turbine came in contact with the housing, a very minor amount id say. i called a couple places and everyone said we dont rebuild garrett ballbearing turbos go buy a new one. i did some HT research and found a link to blaast performance who rebuilds turbos in ca. im looking for somewhere a bit closer than that.

im wondering if someone knows of a place on the east coast near nj that rebuilds ballbearing turbochargers.

it has the number 430683-11 stamped in the hot side of the center part(sorry idk the exact name)

i was told it is a t3 turbo, it is infact ball bearing the hot side is.63a/r and the cold side is .50a/r.

any help or knowledge would be fantastic.

You can't rebuild a ball bearing turbo. You need to purchase an entirely new CHRA for it.

majestic turbo in texas told me they could rebuild it aslong as the ball bearings are not damaged but im afraid the compressor wheel to housing damage may be too bad even though it appears minimal it is still apparent. and http://blaastperformance.com has prices for rebuilding garrett b.b. turbos on their website.

no i dont. i googled the number and got nothing which i thought was wierd.

im thinking ill just be better off buying a new one but i want to take it somewhere and just make sure its beyond fixing for a resonable rate.

Gotta read those descriptions.

There is no traditional rebuilding of the ballbearing center sections, they must be replaced with another one. You can swap shafts/turbines/housings though.

This is very important and I think the general masses don't realize this.
With non-ball bearing turbos, obviously a cheap way to get an otherwise good turbo is to buy one needing a rebuild. $150 rebuild + cost of bad turbo=good power for cheap.

Problem as said above, ball bearing turbos, for the most part, cannot be rebuilt, they require an entire new CHRA. It's kinda sneaky on the manufacturer's part, but it also goes to show that unless something is done wrong, these ball bearing turbos shouldn't fail for a long, long time.

So, remember friends! Don't get lured into buying a blown ball bearing turbo for cheap! Buying a new CHRA for it will cost you nearly as much as buying the whole turbo new in the first place!
