99-00 civic coupe front conversion on a 96-98 coupe
Ok guys, so as most of u know I just did my 99/00 front end conversion on my 97 ex coupe….(all paint on my new parts were compliments of SILENTJ95835 here on H-T)
Before pics…
First im gonna start off by showing a parts list of all the items that were required and tools…
First u need a simple set of tools…
Next u need the following for a 99/00 civic..
Hood..
Fenders..
Front bumper..
I personally needed a new rear bumper so I went ahead and did my rear bumper as well…
And u also need a set of headlights…
And some fog lights to complete the set up…
Now onto the conversion process…
Step 1. Remove the front bumper
First start off by removing the 7 plastic screw holding the grill in place..
Then I removed the 2 screws (one on each side) located just under where the bumper meets the fender..
And finally there are 2 10mm bolts holding the bumper to the bottom of the car..
Now just yank on the bumper to have it come loose
Step 2. Remove the head lights.
This first part is an option but I went ahead and did it. I removed the small bracket that sits in front of the headlights again there are 2 10mm bolts…
Next I removed the 2 bolts holding the head light to the support..
Next there are bolts for the headlights under the fender…
And then the last bolt is located just at the point of the head light under the radiator support…
Now simply unplug your lights and pull the headlights out..
Step 3. Remove the side skirts…
There are 3 screws that hold the side skirts on located behind the mud guards (if u still have them that is)…
After you remove those there are 3 plastic screws located under the side skirt (front, mid, and end sections)…
Now u simply tug on the side skirt towards the front of the car and it will slide off and your left with this..
Step 4. Remove the fenders…
First off there are 3 bolts holding the fenders to the engine bay…
Next there is a hidden bolt behind the door at the top left hand corner of the fender (on passenger side)..
And then there are 2 more bolts holding the fender on under where the side skirt was…
And finally there is another bolt holding the fender to the bracket just by where the headlight use to be…
Now u can pull the fender off the car
Now installation is the reverse.
When installing the new bumper most people completely cut off the last tab on the end of the grills that don’t bolt in but I kept it on and just notched the bumper a lil…
And here is the end result…
oh yea i forgot to mention right after i swapped out the hood i did have some fitment issues with a gap just above the head lights on both sides but for the most part it has been resolved, you can see everything in the following link...

Nice work, and write-up..looks good. I've got a 2000 front end sitting in my garage waiting to go on my '96 hatch, just need paint. Personally I'm not a fan of the foglights and will be leaving the inserts black (car is red).

Re: (justinCO)
Didn't you just make a thread about having fitment issues? You should state them here and provide a link to that thread so everyone gets the full idea with issues and all. Other then that nice write up.

Re: (michael123)
as far as the fogs i can take a pic of exact how big of a hole i cut out. but for the wiring u can refer to my DIY for the 96-98 round fog light install...

other than that they pretty much bolt right up. ill take a pic of the cut out i made on my spare bumper with some measurements later on today.
