Default Turbo S with and without HG.. have some questions

Something I have been wondering....

For the sake of argument lets say I have a stock motor AP1 and have the Full Race kit ready for install.....

Now before I install a question... If I leave stock compression and run say, 8psi. I should make roughly 330-350whp. (just a guess) Now to get that same whp with a 3mm head gasket I would need about 12-15psi. (just another guess) So if this is the case what benefit would having a HG for reliability when you could get the same HP with less boost? Or am I just smoking crack?

If one of you boost junkies could explain this too me I would appreciate it a ton.

Full Race

ive seen s2000s with all stock motors putting down a little over 400WHP
If you baby it im sure it will be fine if you dont drive the piss out of it.
the full race kit is a lot tho you should look into rev hard I would only go with the full race unless your built

The setup was all hypothetical, I am just concerned with boost with HG vs. boost without HG.... I am well aware of what the S is capable of.

Boost doesn't like high comp....and this is stronger then stock all the boost is gonna brake a stock one ......

Here's the deal.

- If you daily drive the car and or are going to drive the car hard. Get the headgasket. (just for piece of mind).
- If you think you're going to want more power in the future, just get the headgasket now, so you can take it up to around 500rwhp without any problems. On stock compression, you're pushing the limits once you hit 380-400 or so mark.

Noted...

So am I accurate when I say that you get close to the same HP with less boost stock compression. Than say more boost less compression? Sorry, just having a hard time understanding.

Yes

Think about it this way. A Stock S at the flywheel puts out 240hp at the current compression. Now lower that compression on a stock S, you won't be pushing nearly as much power (say for instance 210hp, not fact, just hypothetical number). That means you have to compensate for that extra 30 hp loss by boosting more to achieve the same power. Make sense?

Depends on how much power you're putting down. Torque wise. I'm pushing in the area of 400rwhp/300wtq, and I'm using my stock diff. So far so good. As for the clutch, I swapped it out to a Spec Stage 1. People might think it's weak cause it's a stage 1, however, this stage 1 holds up to around 320wtq, which is more than I'm pushing.

I feel it's useless to get a stage 5 clutch that holds 500wtq if you're never going to achieve that number. It's just taking things overboard.

Well you also have to think about installation. You'll have to remove half of the turbo kit just so you can swap the clutch out later down the road.

yeah some thing like that... but you dont wanna go to low with out boost a 3mm on 8 pounds would be bad

You're on the right track with the numbers. As for reliability, it's debatable. Some say yes, others say no. I'm one that says head gasket will increase reliability. One thing for sure though is that the head gasket will give you more potential in the long run (power wise).
