Default Oil pressure gauge install Mechanical

First off this isnt about is I should use a mechanical gauge or electric so keep that out of the post. Its more about gauge installation.

My first question is from what I hear from 117 the threads on the oil pressure switch hole are 1/8 BSPT but everyone else seems to say that its 1/8 BPT. Who is correct here ? Also if it is 1/8 BSPT, from what I understand its very close to the same pitch, so would it benefit me to run a 1/8 NTP tap through the hole ? I would be doing this because it seems like 1/8 NTP to -3AN fittings are much more easily acessable than BSPT pitch.

Also it seems like many people put there gauge right where the oil pressure switch was or they put a Tee in and run both. I have seen writeups saying to run a line to the firewall and then mount the Tee there (done by Endyn). I have also heard to run the gauge from the head not the block. How critical is all this ?

And finally, where did you guage place the gauge in the car ? This is a 5th gen.

I removed the stock oil pressure sensor, re-tapped the hole NPT and ran it from right there. The oil light will remain off as soon as you disconnect the wire. Its kind of a pain to tee it of right there anyways since the halfshaft is so close.

I know you didn't ask this, but you can get one of those adapters so you can get oil pressure off the filter, the sandwich adapters or whatever they're called.

Just get oil pressure off the head. There is a 1/8" BSPT plug in the side of the head right under the coil on a 5Gen that you can use.

The stock oil pressure sending unit is indeed 1/8" BSPT.

You can find a 1/8" BSPT to -4 NPT fitting from Pegasus.
