Long time no post.

I was browsing the ITR Parts FS thread and I saw a couple people selling the 36mm front knuckles and trying to find/buy the 32mm front knuckles. You do not need to do this. The 36mm knuckles CAN BE USED and very easily. Here's how:

Get a pair of any Prelude or Accord axles that use the 36mm spline/nut. They can be automatic, ABS, non-ABS whatever. Open the outer CV boot and remove the outer joints. Then just do the same on your ITR or whatever B/D series knuckles your trying to install the 5 lug onto.

The outer 'joint' of the axle is held on with a spring clip (same as what holds the passenger side axle in the trans.) With a few good whacks of a rubber mallet it falls right off the axle. The axle shafts are the same size on all the OEM axles, so they cross right over! THe CV boots are the same size as well!

This isn't in the Helms anywhere. I'd post pics but I haven't done this in a few years. Anyways, enjoy and someone sell me an OEM ITR shift **** for cheap please :-)

I just did this and its very easy. Cost me 16 dollars to have a shop put the bands on. Go to the junk yard and get some outters and knock your stock 32mm end off and put the 36mm on and have them banded.

I did this on my first b16 swap back in '97. I had a civic with the wrong sized hub for the axles. 'DOH!

So I just swapped the outter CV joint..... LOL. Worked like a charm.


The only thing I found, that I stress people pay attention to, most parts houses will sell you the new clamp to tighten the boot back around the joint, but they suck, or most people don't have the proper tool.

If this clamp comes loose, dirt and dust gets in the joint so fast, and there is no better way to ruin a good axle. So I use hose clamps. You can get those suckers really tight, and they are reusable.

I would like to know about this because the jdm 5 lug front knuckles casting number is S-t7L&R and the crv is S-10AL&R.

I cannot confirm that the spindles are the same, but the wheel bearings are definitely the same.

Wow, you brought back an old thread with a quote?

Also, I've tried this, the 97' CV joint wouldn't fit on a 92' axle.
I believe the 90-93 Integras had thicker diameter axles than the 94+ Integras.
