Default UPDATED : Dyno K-Series Race Motor with Skunk2 Stage 3 Cams

I wanted to pass on this little dyno info. Some of you may know us and
can see what we have been up to on our off season prep for 2008.

The motor items are as followed:

Darton Sleeves
89mm Bore
103mm Go Power Motorsports Crank
Arias Pistons
Skunk2 Valve Springs/ Retainers
Skunk2 Stage 3 Cams
Ported Head
54mm TWM ITBs
RC 750cc Injectors
Fuel: E-85 ethanol
Tuned on Hondata
Torco SR5 Oil

There have been some people discussing the issue that the Skunk2 Cams do not make power for the K motors. We have a different opinion. These are literally off the shelf cams. This motor is still not tuned fully as we ran into some oil pump issues and had to stop. This engine was built in conjunction with Go Power Motorsports (www.go-pwr.com)

UPDATED DYNO:

We feel we have reached the potential of these Skunk2 Stage 3 cams as the car would flat line after 8000 rpm.

Hope you all enjoy !

-John

That is good power. What kind of oil pump issues? I had some oiling issues too , just want to see if they are related.

We were losing pressure at 7500 rpm... dry sump system.

Really nice power. Hope you guys figure out the oil roblems. I always knew that the Skunk2 cams were one of the best out there. I have a few friends myself that are running their stage 2 cams in their mild built k swaps and make high 200s to low 300 whp. But I have not seen charts on motors that have been built like the one you have posted.

Have Jeff look into the way the oil holes are drilled in the crank. It is possible to position the holes so that the oil is SUCKED OUT of the main bearings... which leads to low oil pressure on the top end.

amazing power, I assume the stg3 require a good deal of compression to optimize the power out of them?

I've got a k20r block with IPS K2s and have been thinking of getting a bigger cam lately, but didn't know if i'd need to ditch the stock pistons to get some more compression to get them to go.

Not to thread jack or anything but heres a baseline graph of a stock block k20Z1 block that i played with...

Stock k20Z1 block
Stock rods
Stock Pistons
DNR ported head
Skunk spring
Skunk Retainers
SKunk stage 3 cams
TWM 52mm ITBs
44cc injector
SSR 4-1 20gauge race header
no drive belt assembly

5th pass on this motor...
1600bls with driver
i know car has MPH to run high 10.4s
