What's more important, spending money wisely on an original product, or buying the cheaper, poorer made replica just to "look cool"?

I guess we are all just bandwagon jumping idiots, driving "automobiles". Someone copied the first automobile, and if your not rolling on the original one, your definately not OG...

That has to be one of the worst arguments I've read, to date. What is similar between the first generation of automobiles? Nearly nothing is similar. The only thing similar about them was the fact that they had round wheels and at least one place to sit. That was all. And, to compare new age cars to those, stating it's a similar comparison to the one in this thread is beyond preposterous. The design of the Rota is an attempt to mimic the exact design that Advan had developed, not improve it.

if you cant afford them, then sorry but for the people who can, great! no reason to hate on some one who has the financial security to buy expensive parts. some one once told me, "If people are haiting on you, your doing something right".

What I was getting at is that just because someone has an idea/design, and its useful/people love it, why shouldn't someone be able to copy it, as long as its allowed by law, without getting they're balls put into a vice. It's what people want and that is why they made it. And why should Rota "improve" on the wheel? What's to improve? They are just trying to bank off something put up on a pedestal by people like you who think all JDM branded wheels are made of gold. If someone does not care about rolling on 16x10's that weight 15 pounds and would be just fine with a standard 15x7 Rota HM3 that weights 15 pounds, they shouldn't be labeled "impostor" unless of course, they put Advan stickers on it.

I actually have nothing against Advan, Mugen, Mackin, SSR or any of the other name brand high dollar wheels. My favorite wheel is the Volk se37k, which they never made in a 15" version, so if rota was to make a really good copy of it, I'd be all over it. I also like the SSR Firrenze but I missed out on that BNIB set ICB sold. But if I can get a set of wheels that I really like, around the same weight as a real one, and with the same JWL stamp, and $1000+ cheaper, I am all for it.

some wheels are hard to find so and way over priced. so it is what it is. if i find some that looks that same and same quality but $1000 cheaper. then i'm down.

So people who drive 3 thousand dollar civics are complaining about wheels that are cheap? There's something really hilarious about this. I used to think people had a valid point about Rotas being poor quality, then I started realizing people who track their cars all the time run Rotas.

They're based off of good designs. The Grid is nothing more than a cast TE37 and though it isn't as light, it's very good in comparison to alot of other wheels.

Quit whining about knock-offs.

ok first off i hate rota's. you can get a great set of these in 16's for $800 off takumi project. thats not that bad people and thats with tires on them (used). People are bitch that this is too much... well if your gonna do it, do it right. if you have a car, you prob. have a job. its called saving money.

second off. i have seen a few bad ass racecars running rota's. now i dont understand it but this is what is going on. take ams for example. Best 1/4 Mile: 8.97 (5.96 @ 128mph 1/th mile) . Best Mph: 165mph. 1013 All Wheel Horsepower evo. it is on rota slips. here is a link- http://www.amsperformance.com/amsdragevo.php
http://www.dragtimes.com/Mitsu....html
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.....html

ams has more than enough money to but gold te37 with lug nuts made of elephant tusks. just saying.... rota slips????
