My 88 CRX Si Project/Build/Rebirth Thread (ole locash racing car)

I would like to start off by saying this site rocks - enough said Alright - Well I just turned 20 and I'm finally bringing my old project back into the garage for some long awaited mods and tune ups... My CRX was busy sitting in an old trailer for the past few years while I played with and modded my other toys. Well I guess I will start off with the VSS - it went out just before putting her into storage , and here is what I found:

Now, for some stupid reason I bought one from Autozone, and one from the dealer:



It turns out that they are both identical: same codes, shape, one year warranty - with the exception that Honda's costs about 50 bucks more (just a heads up for people needing this item - go to autozone lol!) :

whats the autozone part number? because u thought the usdm crx's and ef's didn't use a eltronic vss sensor.

HMMM, Ill have to look at the receipt (EDIT: looks like you can use that number in the picture right below the word "wells") - I actually just went in and told them I needed a vehicle speed sensor for a 92 Civic. I think mine is electronic cuz im running OBD1???

It rotted....the paint like cracked and turned a weird color lol

Well.....My balljoints just went out on the driver side of my truck - so I will be busy changing those ...But I DID get around to picking up some full radiator top mounts at the junkyard, and I had a question - where can you get the top rubber grommet so they can both match? :




Here is my truck tire comparison to the size of my car after taking the tires off to get the balljoints goin -

Haha, thanks bro - 40 inchers!! Just gottem - cost me a fortune

Heres and update, starting the Cam seal............Well, heres a pic of my valve cover that I'm getting powder coated "wrinkle red" (just sent it out):

Everything looks good except for this:



That roll bar hoop is way too close to where your head is going to be. Other roll bars I've seen (even other autopower ones) place the main hoop behind the seatbelt mounting points. If they are that close, you'll crack your head open on it if you get into an accident. hopefully, you can push it back or at least move your seats up a bit. if not, I'd probably take it out. And get some SFI roll bar padding on it too!

If the radiator doesn't fit, order up a "heavy duty" or "HD" civic radiator. its a dual row, full length (like the DA integra) that drops right in. Also the 91 civic EX wagon automatic came with a full length double row radiator.

I recognize that car. It was in an issue of honda tuning a long time ago, i was just flipping through an old issue last week. It used to be yellow with the black fender stripes and the superhonda badge on the hood in black.

So whoever did the silver paint was really bad, the bumper peel shows the yellow under.

It was a pretty decent ride back then, the owner said in the article he could never sell it cause he was way deep in it, lol. I'll see if i can grab the issue at home and maybe scan pics and post more info.

Hmm, never considered this.... I'm definetly dropping in a pair of racing seats/harnesses, so maybe we will see after that...

As for the radiator, I think its going to fit! I have the Prototype Z10 traction bar in place, and it is really close to the ground... making more clearance for the top, I guess im just going to play it by ear, thanks for the info!

That would be crazy if it was the same car! Makes sense with the yellow underneath... Was it Joe Locash who had the car in the mag? Thanks for the info
