Indianapolis Motor Speedway to announce MotoGP race at July 16 news conference
INDIANAPOLIS: Motorcycle racing is expected to return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway next year for the first time in decades.
Speedway spokesman Ron Green said Friday that track officials plan to announce an agreement with the MotoGP series at a news conference on July 16.
Motorcycles were the first vehicles to race at the Speedway in 1909, two years before the first Indianapolis 500. Speedway officials hoped to host a motorcycle race to commemorate the track centennial in 2009.
"We continue to work hard and are getting closer to making that a reality," Green said. He said a report in The Indianapolis Star that the speedway would host a motorcycle race next year was "substantially correct."
"Everybody is on the right track," he said.
Cycle News reported that Inddianpolist date on MotoGP's 18-race schedule was expected to be Sept. 14, 2008.
Officials for Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California, have said the Indianapolis race would be in addition to the U.S. Grand Prix south of San Francisco.
The MotoGP circuit returned to the United States at Laguna Seca in 2005 after an 11-year absence. This year's U.S. Grand Prix is scheduled for July 22.

Anyone else gonna be at Road Atlanta for the AMA race?

No, Laguna has a contract through 2010. The exclusivity clause ends this year though so next year they could host WSBK too if they so chose but as of right now the WSBK people don't seem to have a deal brewing for Laguna for '08. A WSBK race does seem pretty likely for Barber next year though.

Here's the basic price break down (you'll have to go to the site for the map).
All prices are for a 3 day pass
General Admission: $75
Regular Grandstands: $100
Grandstand near beginning and end of front straight: $125
Penthouse and upper deck seats: $150
Those look like great prices. Nothing on paddock passes yet though.

You want to sit in the Turn 6 grandstands if you can get it. Great view of Turn 1-6, and are actually pretty cheap according to F1 pricing. Grandstand seats on the front straight are pretty weak after the start of the race.

hahaha ops you're right. What I meant was 7 or 8 hours, it's not that bad I was just there for the F1 race.
