Yeah! What you know about that?!!

I checked my ring gap so now I just have to put them on the pistons. I'm tired though.

I believe I'll be somewhere around 12:1. I could be wrong.

I was looking at this compression calculator.

http://www.zealautowerks.com/

Don't know how accurate it is though.

Thanks for taking the time to check out the build and for all the kind words fellas.

I was installing my pistons and ended up bending one of the bottom oil rings pretty bad. What should I do? I dont want to compromise my build, but I dont want to have to buy a whole new set of rings just for 1 ring. Any advice please?

Thanks

-Craig

Yeah I love DA's. My favorite Honda chassis of all time. I'll have this car until I die.

Well guys, I bent up an oil ring while I was installing the pistons soooooooo...I have to call Hastings tomorrow to see if I can buy one separately.

Very very discouraging.

Anyways, Full Race sent the dowel pins that were M.I.A. They also threw in a couple more stickers...not that I have anywhere to stick them.

I installed the rings on the pistons. Ironing boards rule.

All the pistons with rings

I've got 2 pistons installed and the other 2 will have to wait until my 2 replacement oil rings come in. Thats right, the piston ring body count has now risen to 2. Good thing I foresaw this and bought 4 extras. Hahah.

I now have 3 of my pistons in after getting my replacement oil rings in. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw that something was going on with the 2nd compression ring. I looked closer and that bitch was split (circumference-wise). So I called Hastings directly even though I got the rings from K-Teller and one of the engineers hopped on the phone. Dawn was agreed that this was a defect. She was VERY nice and got me all hooked up. So I should have the last piston installed next week. Damn. So much drama for some pistons.

Thanks for the bump!

I have NO mechanical background whatsoever. Most of what I've learned has been from Honda Tech, friends, Haynes manual, Helms manual, and other sources on the internet. Such being the case, my dad thinks I'm crazy for trying to build an engine. But I figured that I'm a fairly intelligent person, I have a daily driver, I have plenty of time and space, and I've got the balls to try anything at least once.

Thanks for checking out my build.

Just got back from Florida (for work) and saw that my new compression ring came in. I was wanting to put it all together this weekend but I'm not allowed on my house since my girlfriend is throwing a damn baby shower at our place. Girls FTMFL.

Finally got the pistons installed. It's been a long journey...

2 bent oil rings and 1 defective compression ring, but theyre finally in.

Also started cleaning the carbon out of the combustion chambers

Eww.

I'll post pics after I hit it a few more times and get it all wiped down.

Can anybody confirm the placement of the breather box? I pulled it off of my old block and I've marked the picture for where I believe it goes. I ask because I know that the 96+ LS blocks didnt have the box and I got confused as to which block I have.

From what I can tell, the hose goes from the breather to the nozzle near the deck and the bottom fitting of the box fits perfectly in that vacant hole.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks- Craig
