after buying a 97 integra gs (with most mods already installed), i loved that car , it was an auto, ill never go back to auto. manuals are cheaper, easier/cheaper to fix, and WAY more fun to drive

Just got a call from the dealership, they couldn't find anything wrong. Looks like we're stuck with this problem.

Hmm, I still kinda feel the less than stellar 1-2 upshift, but no complaints at all besides that.

Anyone have any wheel bearing issues? I think my wheel bearing went out about 3 months ago and am just now getting some dealer support. I mentioned it to them at an oil change once and they told me that it was probably a tire issue. I took it back to them just the other day because the noise had gotten so bad and they finally checked it out and 3 hours later it ended up being the wheel bearing. They are going to fix it next week so ill finally be able to enjoy my fit with out the off road tire roar noise.

The hesitation from a stop light has been irritating me from the get go ! The 1st gear take off is never the easy smooth acceleration I expect from a new clutch. I took it in and three techs dove it and said normal. After 5000 miles, I am used to it but I try to avoid using 1st gear altogether. Usually a rolling stop and taking off in 2nd helps a lot.

It must be the way the computer delivers the fuel. There simply cannot be the positive feel you get when the engine and the gas pedal are connected with a cable. Engineering always compromises the efficiency of a perfectly fine system in the quest for higher mileage and reliability.

I'm looking to buy an '08 fit (Just landed a great intern position at Harley Davidson!!) I don't know if you guys are experiencing this with previous year models...but this issue is pushing me away from Honda all together.

My Theory:
I currently drive an '01 Civic EX 5spd. The conditions you guys are describing fit directly with my current issue. It's a common issue with the 01-03 EM2 manual trannys. The problem is the input shaft bearings and/or clutch release bearings (aka throwout bearings). I would recommend a tranny shop check out the bearings imo. Of course, I'm not a Honda expert, but from other posts I have about the Si's "infamous 3rd gear grind", seems like Honda has tranny problems that still apparent in the trannys of other models. just my .02.

The problem I'm describing isn't as harsh as the "infamous 3rd gear grind" on k20s. It's noticeable at times but not that bad.

we have found that one of the dash rattles is actually coming from under the hood.... if you can duplicate the rattle by slowly reving the engine have someone put a little pressure on the fuel line close to were it mounts to the firewall... if it goes away just start treaking the bracket until it stops buzzing in the car.

as far as the shifting goes... deal with it , it is characteristic of the linkage design.

for the lag on take off with the 5sp cars think ahead 2-3 seconds with the accelerater pedal... that came from a honda engine plant engineer, i was complaining about the drive by wire and he agreed but has no control over the dbw logic..

Haven't read beyond the first page of the thread, but I've been experiencing this as well. Feels kind of weird...

i feel the same thing like if the tranny is popping out of first gear. Maybe a short throw shifter would fix that. I generally don't like the way it shifts anyways but noticed the same problem from 1st to 2nd.

Yeah it sucks so bad at night. In the afternoon when it's warm the only rattle is the one from behind the glovebox but at night it's coming from behind the center vents area and i can recreate it by tapping on there.

This is a common problem,is there anyway that we can create a thread and let American Honda see it?because my dealer has not received anything from Honda about rattles

I noticed that the shifter wanted to pop out of first gear to neutral during the shift to second gear, but it is almost non-existent after switching to synthetic oil and HAMP oil filter.

whatever oil you use has nothing to do with your shifter popping out of gear.. sorry to disappoint you.

as for the guys with dash rattling problems, im a tech at a honda "stealership" and have tried fixing this problem on many new model hondas, some i was able to quiet down with sticking skinny foam pads between the dash and windshield ..the dash designs suck period.. if you are going to attempt this yourself be very careful, as the windshield is like a sponge and could crack... one car, it went as far as a honda engineer coming to the shop, he couldnt fix the one he looked at either.. sorry fellaz

wow so many issues...if i knew all these things it would of prevented me from getting my fit...oh well. I haven't noticed those issues but now i'm going to pay attention.

I do get slight vibration of the steering wheel on my lowered fit. Could be me just needing the J's racing RCAs

I've had dash rattles since the begining. The rattle is coming from in between the top of the radio and where the airbag is on top of the dash. Also some rattles coming from the rear hatch.

I've also noticed this at times, but the car stalls and turns off. I start it back up and it's fine. It's happened maybe 4 times in the year and a half I've had the car

If my car stalled and turned off I'd be living at the dealer until they fixed it.
