Default Some more LS/VTEC questions. HELP ME OUT!!

Ok, I've got a few questions.

1.) I am wanting to buy ARP rod bolts for my LS rods. I am wondering if it would be worth it to go ahead and buy ARP rod bolts for GSR since they are bigger in diameter, and have the LS rods sent to a machine shop to fit the bigger bolts.

2.) I just recently bought some ARP headstuds off of a private seller. He says they are brand new, and they came with the box. My questions is how can I tell if they are for a GSR? What are the differences between GSR headstuds and LS headstuds?

3.) I bought an ITR oil pump and I have a 22teeth GSR water pump that I bought used. Think I'll be safe using these used parts or should I sell them and get brand new ones? Also when I went to buy the ITR oil pump of this kid, he handed me a 19tooth water pump. I already have an oil and water pump off of a GSR so I didn't really care for the price I get these newer pumps for. How can I tell if I have a VTEC oil pump or not? I hope he didn't give me an LS oil pump. If not I have some used GSR oil and water pumps.

4.) I was thinking about getting a main girdle, but I don't know much about them. I am hoping to be making power to about 8500. I will be using this car as a weekend car/ slight strip use. I was told that a girdle was more for a road racing application, but like I said I don't know much about them.

I'll probably have more questions along the way, but that's all I can think of for now.

Thanks!
Cody

ok do a little bit more searching and you get what you pay for. 1st, new is always going to be better than used. as far as the rod bolts go i think you have to get the rods machined either way, the head bolts i think there all going to be ther same lenght but theres still no garontee, as far as the water pump. you want to use the one thats 22 teeth. i would just use the GSR stuff if you cant afford new and know there from a GSR. and the griddle, you need to do alot more research before you worry about asking about that.... lol i have been planning my ls/vtec for months and am just getting to that question. theres plenty more planning and research needed before you get to that.

Trust me I've been doing plenty of research.

Check out my other thread for my setup list.

I just have a few questions before I got started building, I'm just about ready to start my build.

- you need to have the rods resized anyway when using arp bolts. just get them for the ls
- gsr headstuds are longer than ls studs. you need the gsr studs for an lsvtec
- all b series vtec water pumps are the same. all 96+ b series oil pumps are the same. nonvtec and vtec.
- just have the crank balanced and micropolished. lots of people spin their lsvtecs higher than that with no girdle.

I actually found a deal on a Eagle Lightwieght crank. So I'll be using that more than likely.

I already bought the ARP headstuds, the kid swore up and down that they are GSR. He said he didn't have the box, which is why they are in the LS box. Could you maybe get me some measurements so I can tell if these are the right ones or not?

I am on a budget, so unless I get a deal on some forged rods and pistons, I'll more than likely be going with OEM.
