Default ls/vtec all motor

I have finally just started my ls/vtec build and im still debating on goin all motor or turbo. but wat r my options on an all motor, i want a 13.5 sec or higher street car. what i am having trouble with is if i go all motor what kind of pistons and rods shud i run. shud i run forged pistons/rods or oem? i planning on using itr cams with my b16a head with type r valve springs. heres is a list of the parts i have.

b18a1 block
b16a1 head
arp rod bolts
arp head studs
arp main bolts
stage 2 clutch
8 findanza flywheel
unorthadox racing pulleys
g.e vtec conversion kit. 3 layer head gasket
255 walboro fuel pump
b16 manifold
22t water pump
right now b16 cams plannin on goin type r
i plan on buying adj cam pulleys
and a gsr girdle
ill be running a p28 chipped computer so i dont have to install a knock senor
i do have one ? about the g.e conversion kit, someone had told me they come with the wrong head gasket, is this tru?
let me know wat u guys think of my set up and wat else i shud get to improve it for all motor. if i do all motor i wanna get atleast 200whp

you can hit 13.5 with all the parts you have now just adding type r cams and ctr pistons, but honestly i would say go turbo

you can use b16 pistons in your ls block. It makes somewhere around 11.3:1 cr and if you want to you can mill your head up to .036" and increase the compression alittle more that way.

IMO your best bet is to do the b16 pistons on ls rods with arp rod bolts. Its the cheapest and least expensive route to go.

You might need alittle bit more of a cam in your motor to go 13.5.

I had the almost exact same setup with ITR cams and springs and only was able to pull a 13.8 with a 2.0'

if you get cams you will want valve springs and retainers.

Honestly if it requires you to save up a little more, jsut save up and get more because in the end you will want more power.

Hope this helps,
Kevin

and with that setup I would recommend you ditch the fuel pump unless your going to get cams..

okay I know your new at this game but Im going to try to be polite.

You dont even know if you wanna go turbo or all motor so first things first you need to make up your mind,

Both routes can become extremely expensive if you wanna go fast.

If you are planning on going turbo and only wanna go 8psi. You can use the stock internals. ( I knew a friend who went 11.20's on 20 psi on stock internaled lsv with a sc-1). Which would be a waste of money if you never plan to boost it alot.

If you plan on going boost and going fast, I know alot of ppl that have had sucsess with cp pistons.

Dont mean to sound like a dick but you need to make up your mind and think about your goals. I mean if your driving around a 400whp honda you might need another dd too.

Just trying to help.

well i just got done workin on the motor and i got the head off and i deff want to upgrade my pistons. those things in there look ugly lol. im gonna try get pics of my build but for now i can onley write wat im doin. i thinking more on the boost side but that wont be till next year, for now im gonna build my motor reliable to handle about 10-12psi on daily driving and 15psi on the track(unless thats pushing it to much on stock sleeves) but for rite now i wanna make about 170-190whp before boost so i can still be pretty quick, but when i go boost next year i wanna make about 320-360whp. so wat do u guys think?
