Dang, I wish I was the one going to Italy. It's an architect that I work with and he is getting a free "visit" to one of the door and window manufacturers there. Ya, they are paying for the whole trip. And no, they are not the same type windows that you get at Home Depot. Well, I went out and bought all my parts. New bearings, new SI hubs (and lug studs), and new DA rotors.

I'm thinking about making a "collar" to fill the gap between the rotor center hole and the raised section on the hub (although I don't really know if it's important).

This kind of brings up the next question;

If somebody was starting with an SI knuckle, what would it take to bolt up the DA caliper and have it line up correctly? (this doesn't apply to me due to already having EX knuckles)

Wes, I should be able to provide an exact answer to this question in July hopefully as I will have a pair of SI knuckles and an extra set of DA Calipers to play around with.

Well there is a write up in faq, si knuckles + 10.3" rotors and itr calipers (trim 3mm off the bracket to line them up. Kinda like itr caliper onto da/dc knuckles with 11" redrilled 4x100 lude rotors.

With all this talk about hubs, and what will fit, (not trying to hijack this thread) I have a question, will si hubs fit on a civic std with small spline hub knuckle's?

I have two sets of EX knuckles for two of my cars and I am in the process of pressing in new bearings and ball joints for one set. I plan on reusing the original hubs. I didn't think the hubs were a part that wears out or needs to be replaced.

How do I know if I need to replace my hubs?

bmg123;

In a perfect world, hubs would never go bad or wear out.

The problem is if the car has ever been in an accident, it's possible to slightly bend the hub so that it doesn't run as true as it should (which is the problem that I have).

If the hub isn't true, then the rotor that mounts to it, also will not run true.

This is something that you can't tell by just looking at a hub. If you had hubs off of the car and wanted to check them, you would have to put them in a lath and use a dial indicator to measure "run-out".

If you bought a used knuckle (spindle) with hubs installed, you should use a dial indicator to verify that the hubs spin true. The factory manual gives the allowable run-out value.

If you have new hubs installed or are just replacing the bearings, you should have the run-out checked before you leave the machine shop! (if the machine shop has a lath, the hubs should be verified before pressing them in) It's possible (and I know it does happen) for a hub to be "bent" while being pressed in!!
If this happens, then the hub has to be replaced along with it needing a new bearing. If this happens, the machine shop should pay for any "damage" done while doing the press work. Something to make clear to the shop prior to doing the work.

I finally got around to doing the SI hub on EX spindle swap.

It all works but I decided to also make up a spacer / indexing collar between the hub and rotor.

Here is a complete write-up.

I really want to say thanks to both dr_latino999 and steronz for their input.

No, the stock rotor fits snug on the EX spindle.

Hmm, I wonder if there is a rotor that will allow a bigger hub but still a small enough rotor to allow a 13" drag wheel. the integra setup is damn close to the wheel now and has a spacer.
