The welds look good, but unless you are backpurging, this picture is not really good because it does not tell a lot.

Yeah, RLD could you do another weld like this, but with the purge flow rate turned up? I'm sure you can get a nice looking weld on the inside, but I'd be interested to see how it looks.

yeah I will do one tomorow , also this was done with no back purge so it will look way nicer inside, the pennatration is there so when purged it should almost take on the same bead look as the out side of the weld ,

The fact that it sugars on the back side when not purging does NOT mean that it will get full penetration when backpurging. I'm pretty sure you're going to find that you don't get full penetration most of the time you assume you would if it was backpurged...

Is that 1/16 or .045 filler you are using Jesse? Or something else? Good work

To be honest Iam not sure because I have never welded with a 316 grade but they do make a 316/316l filler so I would have to guess that one , but it is just a guess , lol Iam realy not sure we will have to wait on Jesse for that answer

Looks great. How many passes on that? Also what are you using to backpurge.... Argon or Helium?

I have not messed w/ SS a whole lot. I also need to make a backpurge rig. Any suggestions on what I should do/use?

Thanks for your help.

Single pass , 1/16" tungsten , still dont know how many amps cus I never look flow was about 5 for the purge and 28 for the torch , also I just use tin foil , kinda ghetto but the dollar store is key , lol and I use 100% argon , I know with a helium argon mix the arc burns hotter , but I dont need any more heat so I just saty with argon .

I guess I should have made it a little more clear in my question.... What do you use for regulation? Do you use a seperate tank or tap off of your one tank and regulate that for backpurging? Pics maybe?
