If you can provide proof that Honda made an EM2/ES1/ES2 with a B-series engine from the factory, it'll be emissions legal.

GOOD LUCK

Because you can get a 2001 car with a K-series.

I guess I didn't mean it had to be specifically a EM/ES.

Essentially you can't put an engine from an older generation car into a newer generation car.

Anyways, yea, a b-series engine would be cheaper and easier to come by, but that savings would easily and quickly be eaten up with custom fabbed mounts, etc. Anything is possible with money though..

Case in point: http://www.importtuner.com/fea....html

This topic has been covered to death on this forum, bud. You could have searched for this information. I've posted it well over a dozen times.

The only B-series you can run in a 7th Gen. Civic and be legal, would be an Integra from 2001, in a 2001 7th Gen. But, even then, you'll need so much money dumped into custom wiring, harnesses, ECU, driveshafts, motor mounts, etc... that it would be cheaper to run a K20/K24. And, for the money, the K will always be the better option.

I am planning, at some point down the line, to do a K20 swap. Would it save me money to purchase a K20A3 and an A2 head or JDM RSX Type-R head to swap out?

The head, while providing better flow, will be negligible in gains compared to a stock K20A2, simply because the K20A2 and K20A use high compression pistons whereas the K20A3 does not.

Toyomatt you seem to know alot here is a challenging question and something i
was thing about doing even thought it would be a huge waist of money.

If I installed a K20A2 could i use the CR-V transmission with the TSX transmission
Gearing? I want to have the 4WD

You would have to make a driveshaft tunnel through the floorboards, remove the rear sub-frame and put in the CR-V sub-frame, then run custom axles up front and a custom driveshaft to the rear differential. The car would probably not sit all that low anymore, because of the ground clearance required for the rear differential, and you're easily looking at $8,000 in just parts. And, there's no guarantee that the car will run right after all is said and done.

Plus the differential is about the size of a grapefruit, so you couldn't put much power down.

Quoting an old post but for what its worth. Honda did manufacture a 2001-2005 EM/ES chassi with a K20A3. IIRC the guy was a member here and from Puerto Rico.
