i had my header flat back ceramic coated while my motor was being rebuilt. i also did not go too crazy on the engine bay. just "cleaned " it up a bit. i have been daily driving my car for almost 16 years so i shaved and tucked for my own taste and needs. here is another.

he responded to my original question. its not a big deal. honda engines weren't designed to be boosted, but many of us go that route regardless. we're in a forum where nearly every member has modified some aspect of their car so suggesting someone remove a knock sensor isnt necessarily incorrect or inappropriate. alternatively, anyone with a modified engine on here should have other items in place to detect/prevent knock. ie--additional sensors, wideband o2, a system that's properly tuned, etc...

If the tune is right, you won't need to worry about it. Your stock GSR with a stock tune will not detonate on 93 Octane. Probably won't even det on mid-grade. Just don't be silly and run cheap low grade crap.

In my case (and most cases) I'm running the OBD-1 motor in my EF, so I had to run a conversion harness (Boomslang) so I can have VTEC and the 4-wire O2 sensor. I left the knock out. Haven't had any problems. My tuner doesn't use them anyway, so it works out fine. They can disable it in the tuning program (Mine was tuned on CROME)

that was my point exactly. when you consider the simplicity of the knock sensor, you begin to understand what it is detecting and how there can be inherant problems with the sensor in general. i know others have had problems with the KS and eliminated it for just that reason.

sure, i get what you guys are saying, but what i am saying that removing a ks shouldnt be taken as lightly as removing air bypass valve when redoing a harness, i mean its one wire. leave it.

which is one wire less...plus another sensor removed that could throw an unnecessary CEL.

we'll agree to disagree. it's probably not even worth discussing.

MORE BAYS!
