Default Someone just shoot me...

Today i was going to change the oil in my R and our shop has 4 lifts three are 2 post one one is a drive up ramp style. 2 of the two post lifts have auto locks one is rather old and you have to lock the arms your self. So today in a rush i put my car and just as i was pulling on the drain plug i head a low growl sound i turned just in time to see one of the arms slidding out from under the lift point of the car. i jumped out of the way just in time to watch the R fall off the lift at full hight "6'" and crash on its side on the floor then roll over on its roof... All because i was in a hurry and did not go and lock the arms to prevent them from moving.. the chassis is badly damaged not one body panel survived.. The rear suspension is badly bent along with the trailing arms on both sides, 3 of the 4 jdm 16" wheels are bent etc.. I wantd to just die i have used every spare part to assemble the track R that now i have no spare's.. I am just sick and would like to go lay one the free way now.

With no dout in my mind the car is a total loss and will be totaled out for sure.
When the car slipped off the lift one of the legs of the lift opend up the C pillar like a can opener , i am just sick..

So sorry to hear but look at it this way.... You could've still been under there.

Take it for what it is (close call/second chance) and carry on.

Louie~ who has witnessed falling cars also.

damn, i can't believe that happened to you. so sorry to hear that. i was so pissed and angry at myself once when i put a little dent on my R by mistake. i can't even imagine what you are feeling right now. i know you are thankful that you got out of the way in time, but it sucks to have that happened to you.

I've got a lift at the shop that does this as well. The right rear leg likes to walk out on you sometimes. Really have to pay attention to that one. That's why I do all my work on my R on the drive on lift unless I need to pull the wheels.

Sorry to hear about the incident. That must really have sucked watching it fall. I know your heart must have just sank watching it. But like someone said it could have been worse, you could have still be under the car.

Oh wow man this totally sucks, I'd feel horrible if I watched my R fall off a lift. Sounds like a lot of damage to the R. I hate to ask but at the same time I'm curious if you have pics of this.

Holy shit thats rough!!!! I can well imagine how your feeling right now.

But i cant visualize how it landed on its side and rolled onto the roof....would the vertical posts not have prevented it from rolling on to its roof?

The mental image of an R falling off the a car rack is quite disturbing...I'm sure it's even worse in person. But hey, don't beat yourself up too much since there's nothing you can do about it now. Consider this a life lession and move on, maybe it's time to rebuild another ITR? I'm glad you didn't get hurt in the whole ordeal.

Sorry to hear that this bad luck had to hit you again, especially after the cone getting stolen. The bright side is that you're ok and nobody else was around to get hurt. I guess you could look at taking parts off this R and save another. I wish you the best of luck and hook me up with that paint code so I can talk to my body shop to get this project rollin...

Unreal, I can't even imagine the feeling of watching an R fall from 6 feet up, let alone your own. Glad you made it out of the way untouched.
