goto start, run then type in services.msc
find and disable the Shell Hardware Detection service and reboot. Did they get fixed? If so, then re-enable the service. If not, Google it.

Well, I restarted the service...and everything went back to the incorrect icon and labels.
I noticed that if I left the service disabled, the icons stayed generic, but the labels would not stay the same. Should this service be enabled, or will I have problems leaving the service disabled? A fresh install would solve everything...sigh...I hate doing that. Modified by 2005 TSX at 1:50 PM 6/17/2006 |

Well, here are some suggestions that I have tried so far...
http://www.hardwareanalysis.co...59453/ and http://forum.tweaks.com/forum/....aspx No more updates in this forum...still waiting. I also tried using a program called "Icon Packager - Public Version". This program allowed me to set the icons to their default settings, and then I could cutomize them as I wanted. The labels were still incorrect, but I was able to change them in the registry. Everything looked fine, but once I rebooted the computer, everything went right back to incorrect settings. What can I do? Please help! |
