Hey bro...since you took out your axles and stuff....
Do you know how to take off the front wheel hubs??? im having trouble with this and i just wanted to see if you had any info on how to do this because i need to replace a broken wheel stud. at the time my front left hub only has three wheel studs and its kinda iffy to race like that. |

As far as removing the hubs, you need this special tool. It's like a bar that has three main points to it, two parts connect to your hub studs and one is a bolt that goes to your hub. As you tighten the tool the hub pulls off. Anyway, new update time! |

Update time!
![]() The motor is in! I dropped it in myself. One morning I woke up and I thought about how lazy I was being putting the motor together and how everything was pretty much done, everything else I needed to install was inside the engine bay, so I hooked up my friend's leveler and started raising the motor. Let me tell you, you really test your tolerance when you lift an engine high enough to drop into a LIFTED car's engine bay on jack stands. I also cracked one of the stubs on my distributor cap, but it will work so I don't care. I'm gonna JB weld that shit shut because I just bought that damn distributor, I'll be damned if I have to replace a cap before I even get to drive the damn car! ![]() There's a lot of little pieces that need to find their homes, two sensor plugs near my distributor, one of them being my 02 sensor which I have to figure out how to set up because the 02 sensor on GSR exhaust manifolds is down near the catalytic convertor flange. I reckon some soldering is in order! ![]() This is where I'm missing a vaccuum sensor, only problem is, there's no hole into the intake manifold just the holes for the screws. I don't know wtf to do because I don't even know where the vaccum sensor would even go or what to connect into these holes.. I just have a feeling I'm ****ed on that category and another CEL I have to deal with. ![]() I think this is where that goes? Either way, if it is, I have to ziptie/duct-electric tape the shit out of it since not only is it a little short, the end seal was a little damaged from the pulling of the D16. ![]() I don't know where this hose goes, maybe someone could tell me. The next pic will show what it's connected to, but I don't know if it goes to the firewall or routes back to the water neck. I don't think it does that because there's only one more opening to the water neck and I think I know what connects to that. ![]() This is where that hose feeds out of, or into rather, or either. I think it's long enough to route to the firewall, but I'm not sure where exactly it connects. ![]() One more mystery hose. Not the one my finger is pointing at, but rather the only one in the picture that goes under the TPS sensor. It comes out of the firewall and I think it's the hose that connects to the water neck, possibly my heater core hose? I wanted to be sure cuz I've heard of fluid leaks from the heater core not being connected and I didn't want that to be a problem. ![]() The two mystery plugs. One of them I'm sure is my 02 sensor but the other I'm unsure of. I want to take care of this mess before I install my radiator and connect my coolant lines, because at that point, I will install my rear mount bracket and get started assembling the drivetrain. In that picture you can also see my cracked distributor cap nub. ![]() These are the way the plugs look on the installation side for anyone that wants to give me tips. Well those are all the pictures- Now time for the journal part of this update. At this point during the swap, I'm proud of how far I've gotten. For anyone considering doing their own swap or doing a B swap at all into an EJ1, a few things are important to know from my own opinion: You have to REALLY want it. You have to WANT to know your car inside out and want to be connected to it in a deeper way than others. I know that doing your own swap will give you a profound respect for your own accomplishments and teach you to value it more. This is why I see a lot of Honda owners adamantly say they change their oil every 2500 miles with their own hands, clean the engine bay themselves and never let their asian girlfriends drive. The truth is when you put a car together YOURSELF, you know more and more what it means to take care of your "baby". I learned a lot of shit, that I probably would've never known had I paid someone to do my swap. Things like what a map sensor is, how important gasket replacement/maintenance is, how to adjust valves, various misc. parts on a B series engine most people won't know about unless they swap themselves. Seeing the engine in my car makes me happy, becuase you can actually SEE the project coming to life. You see it in the bay and it's like you have the swap done already. From far away it looks like a running car lol. Then you get up close and see the plugs hanging loose and a missing mount bracket. All in all, I'm glad I came across Honda-tech, because despite the continuous flaming, trolls, scammers and jerks that are on the board, there are a lot of kickass people on the board that genuinely try to help. One member (CB8 EJcoupe) actually came to my house to help me install my waterneck/o rings, he also helped me swap my VSS from my D even though he was originally going to sell me one! I hope when my car is complete, driving well and I'm out killing SRT-4's, I can come back, reformat the thread with details and cliff notes and add it to the swap info at the top for people that are specifically installing a B18C1 into an EJ1. |
