I have the 4bidden short shifter and its about 2 in' shorter than stock(5th gen)Throws are shorter and it feels really solid. I would recommend it. I was going to buy the Pspec but did some searching and it seems like it took some members a long time to get thiers. Jeremy from 4bidden answered all my emails right away and never gave me any problems.(BTW took only a couple days to receive it)

forbidden for $125 + weighted type r knob + stock boot = better deal IMO.

pspec only has 1 hole for adjustment and 4bidden has 3.

The 4bidden shifter is 1/2 in' shorter than a stock prelude shifter and I also have the Skunk2 weighted shift knob. (feels nice and solid with the 4bidden shifter)
The instalation guide was from a 4th gen Prelude but it was pretty much the same for a 5th gen Accord other than the removal of the center console which is pretty simple only like 12 screws took me maybe an hour to install it. I have mine set to the middle setting and did not have to trim my console.

No, the 5th gen accord shifter is about 1- 1/2 inches longer than a stock 4th gen prelude shifter.

thats why i said a weighted type r knob.

the prelude shifter is shorter but putting one in wont actually shorten the throw by much.

i know its more expensive but the p spec looks better made more solid. The attachment points are thicker guage materials.

I have had my pspec for a year now, and i have to say while it looks dead sexy, i think the money could have been better spent elsewhere. For the near 200 bucks i payed for it i could have gotten a set of sportline springs, which probably would have made more of a performance difference than the shifter. One thing about it, is while it has shorter throws, i seem to grind more often with it, I'm not sure if its just me or not. Has anyone else noticed this?

That picture is a stock shifter, but it's been cut and welded near where the cable connects, effectively making it shorter.

...Or maybe not. It just looks like that to me, and I have heard of people doing that.

ok, so the stock 4th gen Prelude shifter is about 1 1/2" shorter than the stock 5th gen Accord shifter, and the Forbidden shifter is 1/2" shorter than the stock 4th gen Prelude shifter. That makes the Forbidden shifter 2" shorter than the stock 5th gen Accord shifter.

So by the looks of it, the Forbidden and PSPEC short shifters are about the same length. Only difference being the adjustability of the Forbidden shifter.

On the Forbidden shifter, what is the difference between the 3 holes? Lower one stock? Middle one 30% shorter? Top one 60% shorter? Thats just an example, I'm wondering what they really are, does anyone know?

Also, anyone with a 5th gen Accord. With the cable in the highest position, do you need to trim anything?

I've read of others saying similar things. It was always assumed in those threads that because you are shifter faster the sycros weren't matching fast enough or something and thats why it would grind a bit. Don't know if thats true or not, just something I've read before in a few threads.

that is a load of bullshit. short shifters don't reduce the overall throw of the shift levers -if they did, the car couldn't go into gear. they simply change the amount the LEVER has to move in order to manipulate the shift levers. hell, i grind gears less often with the psec than i ever did with the stock accord shifter. to me the heigth wasnt a big deal with the stock unit, just the fact that the throws to 1st and 5th gear practically put the knob into the lower din.

pspec lowered the kob a significant percent -its not like that ridiculous height you often see on a supra or something, where the shift boot sticks up higher around the edges than the knob, but it is definantly lower than stock by a good 2-3 inches

well, like I said, I didn't know if there was any truth to it or not. Thanks for clarifying that

I love my PSPEC shifter. I mostly bought it so my girlie could play with the radio while I drove. It makes that way more possible than with the stock shifter. Also, the boot and knob are amazing looking. A bit too amazing at first, but totally worth it.

Things to keep in mind, (I have both shifters)

Forbidden:
-cheaper
-sits to the right (almost looks like it's in 5th gear)
-comes in black
-can use any shift knob

PSPEC
-expensive
-comes in a kit with boot and knob
-sits directly in the middle (perfect)
-can not use Mugen shift knob

I have no idea what you're talking about with the Pspec or the Forbidden.

They're:

1) Not that different in price (considering the boot/knob are a addon)
2) PSPEC is no longer available and won't be anytime soon (I talked to him about buying it)
3) Forbidden sits in the middle, you must have installed incorrectly.
