Default 14.113 is the new time to beat :)

Well today wasn't the perfect day by any means to be drag racing..... 95 degrees, and as the day wore on, poor track conditions. I am VERY confident that with a better temp day, I would be easy 13's.

My best three times of the day were all 14.1's. I have video of 2 of the 14.1's but no idea how to get them online, so timeslips will have to do.

This was launching off the 5500 limiter, spinning a tiny bit, and hooking at about 6200 rpms. Hoosier DR were at 18psi... It is going to be VERY hard to get a good 60' with slicks or drag radials, until they figure out a way to let you rev higher than 5500 from the launch!

Lookin at his 60ft.......they didnt help much!!!!!!! 2.1?????? Most people get a 2.2 with radials......

It must have helped more with his 1-2 shift to get him down that low. But a 2.0 or less would get him in the 13.xxs!! Nice runs!

well on a new car and new tires
probably has to get used to them

i ran my friends car with drag radials and it was WAY stickier than normal took a few passes to get used to them

when I first bought DR's for my RSX, I ran slower 60's by nearly 2/10 because I wasn't used to them. I didn't know how to heat them up, how to launch with them, etc.

On my stockers I was pulling 2.24 average and on the DR's like 2.4x ha ha ha. After I got used to them the second time to the track and from there foward I was finall able to get low 2.0x

As I stated in my first post, being able to rev to 5500 holds back any chance at a 1.9-2.0 60'. The best 60' I cut was 2.132... The drag radials spun for a tiny bit, then hooked VERY well and caught traction right inside vtec, which is optimal... If I was able to rev to 6500-7000 on the launch, I know I would have hit a 13.xx no problem as the 60' would be much better. The Hoosier DR's are very sweet tires. I started at 20psi, and got wheelhop/spun until about 7800, then caught, then bounced the limiter. Lowered the psi to 18, and they spun a tiny bit and caught.

I'm sure with a little more practice you will see a 13.9 or better. Good luck!! Keep us posted.

It doesn't make sense how you want to launch higher, yet you are still spinning.

Nice times though. What is compustar?

werd I don't know why he's complaining. launching off the 5500 rev limiter causes him to spin enough to get off the line without bogging down and hooking right before vtec engages which is the ideal launch. Any higher and all you would be doing is lighting them up.

If he rides the clutch a little bit on the launch he could probably launch a little higher and completely let the clutch off as the wheels are in a good rotation.

I don't know specifically what I'm doing when I do it, but I know I was able to get a 2 flat 60' using this technique in my friends GSR EJ.

Just finding the right RPM and dropping the clutch pedal isn't going to be the ideal launch, especially with drag radials.

Nice times with cheap mods. I wonder if a reflash and a good launch will get you 13's soon.

Your launches look good. Try not doing your burnout in the water box. All that water ends up in your wheelwells and drops back down on your tires after you pull up. Try to give them just one full rotation on the very edge of the box as you pass through it. Then pull just to the edge of everyone's water trails. Lightem up and pull to the line. This will get you the dryest burnout tire possible. Stick your head out the window if you need to look. Remember....every tenth in the 60ft is worth 2-3 tenths at the end.

...why am I complaining? Cause I was hooking perfectly at vtec and pulling 2.15 60's! That is horrible. These tires will hook 1.9's and I have personally seen it. "Any higher and I would be burning them up".....lol..well, at that tire pressure, sure. At that launch technique, sure... But putting technique into the launch with a higher rpm will result in a better 60'. Spend a little bit of time on the track, and even learning about the DC5 your boyfriend has for example. I have watched a CTR swapped EG launch at 7k w/BFG DR's and hook 1.8-1.9 all day. No traction bars, no upgraded axles, just straight up driving. I had no need to launch any other way, cause what I was doing was working well for the limited launch rpm I have to deal with...

Thanks for the advice! I will try that next time out.... The water box official waved us in, then had us stop where HE wanted... I never even looked to see where I was at. Appreciate it!

With drag radials you want to spin a bit... Optimal launch should not have you hook until you are making the best power. If I hooked right off the line, say 4500 rpms, then I would have 1300 rpms of 140hp to go through to get into vtec... This in turn would offer prolly a 2.4ish 60'. If I was able to launch higher, I would do a longer burnout (you really do need to spin the crap outta the hoosiers for optimal traction), lower the tire pressure a little further (1 psi in drag radials is A LOT!), and launch much differently. That make sense?

Oh and Compustar is a 2way alarm/autostart... http://www.compustar.com

I kept it outta vtec for 500 miles, didn't do any super hard driving until 1000 miles. At 5000 miles I switched over to Royal Purple synthetic, added 16 oz of Purple Ice (keeps antifreeze temps lower), and that's it.

No I haven't dyno'd it... I really don't find any reason to dyno it until I need tuning. With each dyno having different numbers (along with changes in temp/humidity/etc), even if I pulled a 230 whp, that means nothing to me.... The drag strip is my 'dyno'.
