Default Re: SOHC Boosted Set ups! Chime IN...a place for the SINGLE SLAMS

Going on guys. I am kind of new to boosting and got a few questions. I am currently running a jdm d15b vtec in an eg. I want to know what headbolts can I use as well as headgasket? I am going to go stock block but with arp headbolts. Just trying to get 230hp out of it with a garret t3 super 60.

Possible? Thanks guys

mystery head? a6 head cam? port and polish new stock valvetrain
vitara pistons'
stock rods/ <anyone no how much boost safe to handle ?
acl bearings main and rod'
z6 head gasket
arp head studs
cast iron manifold 3 inch downpipe 2.5 inch all the way back
550 injectors

first off...how do you know its an after market cam and not that that timing is just off? not being smart, but i've seen it happen before. rough idle, timing set wrong. fixed timing, idled smooth again. see what i'm sayin?

second, why use a z6 head gasket on an a6 motor? or is there something i dont know here? honest question, i've been out of the single cam game for quite a while so if this is something common now, i haven't heard of it yet...

but to answer your question on "safe boost" if the motor is a strong motor (i.e.-good compression, not burning oil or anything like that), your goal of 230 should be quite feasible without a problem, as long as it has a good quality tune

I wouldnt waste my time with stock rods buckner2009, and neither should you. If your going to build the motor, throw in some forged rods.

The silver surfer will definitely get you there, especially with the stage V exh. wheel.

Hey guys I currently have a turbocharged D16a6 in my 91 Si hatchback and am thinking about a trip to the "darkside'' and swapping on a z6 head.
Heres my current build,
91 D16a6
Tuner Toys rods
srp pistons 9.0 c/r
ARP fastners
fully rebuilt a6 head with new stainless valves
upgraded springs
3 angle valve job
Edelbrock cast T25 flange exhaust manifold
Garrett Gt2871r turbo .64
full 3'' exhaust from the turbo back sans cat
D16y8 intake manifold
RC 550 cc injectors
tuned on Hondata S300
makes 294 whp and 260 lbft of torque @20psi on 91 octane pump gas
230 and 210 @14psi
By putting on a similarly rebuilt stock z6 head and retune for vtec what kind of increase in power should I expect?
Thanks in advance
