I don't think that's what happened.

This was obviously a novice session (hence the horrible steering technique and bad lines from the camera car), so there is certainly a level of inexperience from teh drivers. But, what I saw was a car that dropped two under braking. When that happens, one side grabs and pulls you back onto track. The driver's inputs would be less important than fisiks. The correction isn't as easy as "drive it off" b/c you're going to the side b/f you realize there was a problem.

The guy is likely guilty of driving too fast of a car for a novice, but otherwise, I don't fault him nearly as much as I do the track for letting the cars sit out there in staging like that. Sure, it is an unlikely accident, but hardly unforeseeable.

As for grabbing the wheel -- some instructors do that. I don't disagree with the person doing that in that novice of a group in that serious of a situation.

Some things need to be clarified...

This was an HPDE, not a race and you go into one knowing shit could happen. If you can't accept that then don't go to the track.

Next, the instructor grabbed the wheel to get the driver off the racing surface. Considering they are instructing you they would know what to do better given what was happening ahead.

Third, that was pit out and yes the cars were parked too far out given how close it was to the track.

Lastly, you'd be the world's largest idiot to sue given what happened. Don't take your car to the track if you can't accept the fact that any given time it could get totalled.

What does HPDE stand for?

I agree with everything you've said, especially the last part.

any materials may hamper their lawsuit. Thank you for your support

Thats what the guy posted. Apparently they are trying to commet insurance fraud or something like that.

Edit:

The mods locked the thread too hah! I guess they want them to get away with their insurance fraud.
I'd report those assholes.

It's people like that who make my insurance rates go up.

I wonder if the track will have issues with their insurance coverage due to thier neglect to have proper safety precautions (with respect to having parked cars out of the racing area)

EDIT: I realize you sign a waiver when you participate. But I wonder how that waver holds up if a court decides the procedures followed by the track showed neglect and lack of caution? Anyone?

Seems to me like they would have a better chance against the track than the evo driver

Ha! ****ing idiots. I hope the people who orchestrated that event learned a lesson. Who the shit stages cars about 10 feet away from the entry, apex, and exit of a corner? They should be sueing the people in charge, not the Evo owner.

That is entirely the tracks fault.

And HPDE's are for anyone that wants to learn to drive better, I am sure none of you here are proffesional race driver's so go take your ass to an HPDE

That's what they said?

I bet the case isn't closed once the story gets air time on the evening news. That is seriously BS.

All three are at fault and all three should have to pay for their OWN idiocy.

If your a newb keep away from me on the track.

I use to corner work for free track time!!!(hell yeah!)

When we had our corner worker's track session...everyone was like WOow!...mostly because we were hauling ass around the track and just allowing (alittle more then) racing room.

The ONLY track day I'd attend with amatuers is the Supra track event during the Texas meet. You run staggered one at a time to beat the clock and there are NO CARS SITTING NEXT TO THE DAMN TRACK!

AFAIAC, the NSX and G35 are at fault too. BNo WAY would I park my baby that close to harms way.
