Has anyone here started to develop, or think about developing a turo kit for the 2006 civic dx/lx/ex motor, the R18?
From what I can tell the only problem with creating a kit for this engine will be manifold design. The exhaust manifold is cast into the head which will require some sort of adapter in order to work correctly. If someone knows of anyone trying to develop a kit, or someone that would be willing to design one, let me know. There are a ton of members on ************* that are interested in a kit for this engine, and just need some help getting started since all of the manufacturers are interested in the Si @ the moment.

someone wanna help?
If someone designed a manifold for the R18 they would definitely hit a jackpot because there are a ton of R18 owners who are enthusiasts, but can't do anything about it because the whole market is focused on the Si

![]() There is the cylinder head with the flange showing if that helps anyone. Doesn't seem too complicated to make something for that since there is a ton of room in the engine bay once the exhaust manifold/cat are removed from the bay. I'd do it, but I have no experience fabbing this stuff up, not to mention it's a brand new car and there is no technical support for a turbo setup on this vehicle.

you're looking at the exhaust port in that picture. It almost looks like you could bolt a turbo to the head, but my bet is that some sort of an adapter flange is all it would take. My guess is you'll have more trouble with the electronics and fuel delivery than you will machining something so the turbo bolts to the motor.

well hopefully someone will come up with that adapter plate.
After that adapter plate would you just be able to bolt up any manifold?

i don't think you would need to hook up " any manifold" after you make an adapter plate, all you would have to do is have the turbo hanging right off the head, then attach your down pipe, inner cooler piping, ect. id be interested to see a picture of the engine bay because i have not actually seen on before.

the exhaust is in the front.
The cat and the exhaust manifold take up a huge amount of room in the front of the engine bay, so once they are gone there is a ton of room for a 3" DP and anything else you could need.

i agree with midship. the manifold can do alot for performance runner length and positioning can affect spool and power. yes its cool for simplicity but leaves no options as far as runners go....i also think electronics would be the biggest hurdle to turbo them....its just a matter of time

you dont ALWAYS need someone else to help you, you need to go out and do something yourself. take measurements or take off the manifold and bring it to a machine shop. making you a flange will probably take them no more the 30 mins if they have the manifold in front of them

you could even do an easy external wastegate. just have the flange welded to the square tubing.
can u visualize my idea? it would look something like this

HOW DARE YOU POST AN SSAC PICTURE!!! naw just kidding that is what i was picturing to. when i said electronics i didnt know specifically but i can garauntee the manifold isnt what is holding them back from making a turbo kit for it.

Well its not a race engine christ the guy is just asking about help to turbo it.
I think it would be a great streetable head. It would be so direct too, I mean you couldnt tune for equal length but it would be rather easy. Your best bet is to have a buddy that has some fabbing experiance make a flange. Shit you could prob pop the header off and trace the flange design and go to town.

the main issue besides the head is the car's drive by wire throttle system...The DBW will be the main tuning issue here
